Chester v Boston called off.

From their website:

Chester Football Club can confirm that tomorrow’s scheduled fixture at home to Boston United has now been postponed.

Earlier today, the National League announced that this weekend’s fixtures in their three divisions would proceed.

We fully respect the extremely difficult choice that they had to make and understand their reasons for doing so.

However, considering our local circumstances, we have taken the decision to postpone our fixture.

Supporter, volunteer, player and staff safety is absolutely paramount to us – especially those in the ‘at-risk’ groups who are most vulnerable.

Don't stop and never give up. If you have achieved all your objectives, you have set your targets too low!

Southport v Gateshead now off.

From Southports website;:

Our home fixture against Gateshead which was scheduled for Saturday has been postponed.

The game has been called off due to the visitors having members of first-team staff who are self-isolating in line with Government advice following the Cvoid-19 outbreak.

The National League have agreed to the postponement.

The club would like to apologise to supporters for the uncertainty surrounding this fixture. The National League confirmed at 3.15pm on Friday that fixtures in its three divisions would be allowed to proceed, only for the club to subsequently learn of the situation at Gateshead.

Southport v Gateshead off was because of a trip to Harrogate for a Youth fixture.

Members of the club’s first-team staff travelled to Harrogate Town for a National League U19 Alliance fixture on Wednesday, and thus came into contact with members of Harrogate staff who are now under self-isolation due to COVID-19.

Gateshead Football Club are taking the precautionary measures which have been recommended by Her Majesty’s Government, and members of staff who travelled will now be under precautionary self-isolation.

On that note, Guiseley were at Harrogate on Monday for a County Cup game.   :dontknow:

You guys are desperate to get tomorrow's game called off or at worst see the attendance at a low level.

And for balance Chairman comments

Very Interesting article written by a scientist which states that you are more likely to get the virus from a family member in a close environment or a pub than watching an event in a stadium. Looks like this issue could be with us for years.

Always nice to see a few Canaries fluttering in the Linnets nest.   :scarf:

I’m in total disbelief at the irresponsible decision by the
@TheVanaramaNL
not to follow suit and suspend football like other leagues. Tomorrow, Lynn host Guiseley who played Harrogate in a cup competition in midweek. Harrogate have four employees currently under self isolation.

Looks like it could be taken out of National Leagues hands by next week, as the breaking news is that the Govt plan to implement emergency laws banning large (500) gathering of people.

Souce: Sky, BBC, others.

We’ve all got opinions about this, at least those who know what’s going on.  My turn to spout an opinion.  BLOODY RIDICULOUS DECISION BY THE LEAGUE. Can’t agree with Stan’s attitude at all.  But if the game goes ahead, I hope the players don’t make the amazing mistake I’ve seen in top-class matches, with players rightly observing the no handshake before the game instruction, but then hand-shaking, cuddling, and virtually snogging each other when a goal is scored or the game ends !!  Unbelievable, and I’ve not heard a single manager or media person mention this once !.......
