The statement reads Below National League level. it goes on to say  However, the National League, National League North and South, WSL and Women's Championship will continue towards a conclusion "as quickly as possible".

The Statement came from the FA not National League.

South Shields already initiating legal action against the FA. They were 12 points clear at the top of NPL. Be interesting to see if they get anywhere.

Might end up at CAS, as you can imagine this scenario being repeated up and down the leagues around the world.

What's the point of completing our fixtures when no one from our league is relegated.

Perhaps the decision makers would like to refund the clubs of all the money they'd invested to get into promotion spots.

Come on guys.  Whatever the FA or The decision makers do they are stuffed.  Can’t please all of the people all of the time.

It’s only a game.   In the swing of things does it matter which team is in which League come next season ?

Would have preferred to see this apply to step 2 as well so at least those part-time clubs could have some certainty.  Appreciate the PL, EFL and National have a different view as presumably they would be looking down the barrel in terms of repayment of TV money but they are also likely to be able to access the governments 80% scheme for their full time players.  Without details of the scheme being announced I would be surprised if it applied to part-time footballers whose contracts finished at the end of April and then where would that leave the clubs?

Interesting view from Dover Athletic Chairman:
"Dover Athletic chairman Jim Parmenter has spoken of the ‘staggering self-interest’ from some quarters with regard to the possible fate of the current National League season.
With the COVID-19 outbreak suspending the season with the majority of games played, Parmenter said in an official statement: “Many of you will know I am involved in the governance of the National League, so my thoughts on how league matters should be brought to conclusion must remain my own for the time being, but I do intend to speak out when the time is right.
“All I can say is that I find the staggering self-interest being displayed by those who can afford to continue to pursue gain from the season by threatening legal action if they don’t get their own way against good people trying to do their best in unprecedented circumstances disgusting beyond further words.”

The National League Board met earlier today and has reviewed its prior decision to suspend the competition until at least 3rd April 2020.
In consideration of the very serious and unprecedented national public health emergency caused by the coronavirus, the Board has taken the decision to suspend the National League, National League North and National League South competitions indefinitely.

The National League is currently obtaining specialist legal advice, is consulting regularly with The Football Association and other stakeholders, and is committed to involving its member clubs in a pending decision on how best to conclude the 2019/20 season.

You get the feeling they would like to void the league. But, they have the problem if they void the league, of being in breach of their TV deal for step 1, and  teams in the National will have to repay some of the tv money they’ve received. Whilst not in the same boat as the leagues higher up, it’ll still 5 figures. And with clubs like Dover saying they’re already skint, it’d be enough to bankrupt several clubs at a time when they have no income.

And they’d find it hard to justify doing one thing at step 1, and something completely different at Step 2.
