I see Scott Howie was named Man of the Match. Probably the best keeper I’ve seen in a Lynn jersey since my first game at The Walks in 1961. Safe, reliable and capable of outstanding saves. I would put him just ahead of the eccentric Chuck Martini, who could make blinding saves but whose kicking was unreliable.
I can’t compare the long-serving Andy Claxton, who played during a time when I had moved from Norfolk. Mick Manning, Norman Coe, Gary Steel, Steve Lewis all served Lynn with distinction. And the present No 1, Alex Street, has matured into a fine keeper, with hopefully his best years yet to come.
