Salary Cap
« on: July 27, 2020, 12:07:44 PM »
@Ollie_Bayliss
A group of around 12 National League clubs are proposing a salary cap.
They want annual limits of:
🔸 £900,000 for the National League
🔸 £600,000 for the National North/South
The working group hope the limit will be introduced via a vote at the League AGM in August.
-----------------------------------------------
An interesting idea but how will it be enforced?
Is the cap inclusive of travel expenses?
Will there be a limit on signing-on payments?
I'm sure clubs will find ways around this in order to attract the right players.

Generally a good idea, but if they don't include expenses in the cap it would be a waste of time for obvious reasons.

They would also need to ban the practice of "no show jobs", that certain Clubs have used with certain players in the past.

£900k/£600k is still plenty of money for non league level.
Don't stop and never give up. If you have achieved all your objectives, you have set your targets too low!

Lets hope it does come in and stops the financial doping at the top of non-league (may also help discourage it further down) although appreciate that won't be well received in places like York where we are rightly seen as one of the clubs that has been guilty of in the past.  Personally think the N/S limit might be too high as we need to get away from full time players at that level.
