I've been thinking and reading about this over the weekend. As always, there's for and against.
Its been described as a "Conronavirus grab", which I assume means PL are taking advantage of the current Pandemic and the precarious financial state of the EFL. They are probably doing just that, and if so, they're not the only ones trying to gain an advantage. Football is big business and its dog eat dog in their world.
One step closer to a European Super League? I would guess so.
Domestically, Project Big Picture appears to make a lot of sense. There's going to be an increase in European games in 2024. There are only 7 days in a week, so they have to fit them in somehow.
Personally I'd let them get on with it. It would solve the immediate problem that EFL have, and if PL are so determined to put such a large gap between the "Elite" (I hate that word, especially in sport) and the lower levels of the game, there really is not a lot people can do. They will force it through sooner or later, as the agenda appears to be what's best for their business (as is the case for the vast majority of Business's).
So, we'll have people that "follow" PL Clubs (with prices just getting higher and higher) and people that "support" their Clubs that play at a lower level.
People will get their football fix somewhere, with many wanting that fix to involve watching games live. It could be an opportunity not a problem.
It could be that by default, people's fingers are at least hovering over the reset button for NL football!
