Regarding the DCMS/Sport England 'Winter Survival Fund':

The National League met with the FA this week to emphasise the need for their allocation to be in grants rather than loans.

I understand the FA is also 'pushing very hard' for Steps 3-6 to receive the funding in grants.

Why are the FA only pushing for grants for 3-6 and not steps 1-6.  Ok they have had a 10m hand already but they have much higher overheads.

With the expectation that step 3 and under will be abandoned and declared Null and Void why do these clubs need all these millions ?

If the money is not forthcoming to the NL in the form of a gift then the plug might as well be pulled on those Leagues as well.  Better than letting clubs go bust.   Or maybe the prudent clubs have tucked some of their of the 10m away for a rainy day.

Itís likely that they saw how the first grants were spent, and if theyíre loans itís unlikely clubs will use them to sign new players, rather than their stated purpose.

Surely Barwick and The NL directors would have the iís dotted and Tís crossed with regard to whether the money from Jan onwards was in the form of a loan or a gift.   How would they have agreed to start the season without something firmly in place enabling clubs to reach the end.

Reading the NLP today it seems the Ďhopeí is that some of the money will be in gift form and not all in loans.

Having said that sone NL clubs are saying that a halt should be called to the season.  In some cases players are refusing to train or play.   One player for example has a pregnant wife.    Who can blame him.

The club no doubt has purchased  a batch of lateral flow tests and distributed them to all squad  members. So they can test at home  and get the result in 20 mins. Thus reducing the risk of passing it on to other people.
