Play Offs
« on: April 18, 2016, 10:20:10 PM »
Following tonight's results, the play off picture is a lot clearer.
Hitchin Town, Redditch, Leamington & Hungerford are virtually there.
Weymouth & Kettering have to win there last 2 games,
and hope Leamington & Hungerford lose there last 2 games !
Maybe we could be in the mix next season !

Looks like Kettering's fixture pile up has finally caught up with them.
Cambridge City won tonight, how fresh will they (and the pitch at St Ives) be on Wednesday?

Redditch play Leamington, and Hungerford play Hitchin.
Kettering just failed to get there by just 1 point.
They needed Hungerford to beat Leaminton, but this game finished 0 -0.
Next year,  maybe we could be involved !

If we had had John Sands from the beginning of the season we would have been in the play offs that's for sure

Hungerford come from behind to beat Leamington 2 - 1, and join Poole Town
in the Conference South.

Hope not Banbury not one of the best places to visit, not very friendly and ground poor, pitch was never very good as well, Ryman league much better for Banbury.

I bet Taunton are sick. They beat Banbury 7-1 in one of their league meetings earlier in the season!

I remember one year having trouble with a load of plastic chavs at Banbury. Never had much bother in other years, just became something of a bogey ground for us.

And I thought Hungerford was one of the worst teams to grace the walks this season

I went to the Hitchin v Hungerford semi final last Wednesday. I think the nicest way I could describe Hungerford's style of play is "effective". They got the ball forward early at every opportunity, to a front two that were lively and willing to run and chase all night. They also had a player that could launch long throws right into the middle of the penalty area, which actually provided the assist for their winning goal.
I think the key thing that night was their never say die attitude. Around the hour mark in the game they missed an open goal then conceded two goals in two minutes straight after. I've seen so many games down the years where a mad couple of minutes breaks teams and kills off games, but they just kept going and got the three goals they needed in the final 25 minutes.

I won't miss them next season though! Hopefully they'll take Mr Feerick with them.

Hungerford  - shades of the original Wimbledon, who were not pretty to watch but were very effective in getting results?
