Is this the end of the King.
« on: May 01, 2021, 08:19:01 PM »
:farmer: :oldman" The EDP are reporting that Cameron King has played his last game for KLTFC, Ian Culverhouse  has also stated that the lad needs more tests  to see why he is having breathing problems and that we have not seen the best of his talent since he returned to the club due to illness and injuries.  I feel that he may well have played his last game for KLTFC and if this proves to be the case may I be first to thank Cameron for his efforts for our club. :oldman" :farmer:

With you on that, Dazza.  I think that, at his fittest, he would have been a top player at any National League club.  You could see when he came on against Portsmouth that he would have gained a place in their team as well - he was their level too.  A real loss, especially as our club aspires, next season, to reach the level he was already at, IMHO....

Don't write him out of next season just yet guys.... let's see how things unfold......I know Tony didn't agree, but I personally felt,Richards, King, Carey and a Dilly nipster, when all on song, was a pretty strong NL midfield.

Maybe a position could be found for King with the academy?  That way we can wait to see if it’s possible for him to play again.  Be a shame to lose a talent like that, plus the youngster could learn so much from a player of his ability.  Win win.   Not sure what grade ( if any ) Cameron is but hopefully a place can be found for him.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

A player that came through a first class professional Academy himself , must know how things work and what needs to be done.

Not a bad idea.

He must have some decent local contacts as well. Would Academy and Scouting be an idea?

:farmer: :oldman" I would definitely be happy to see a fit Cameron back next season, however I do feel there is more to this. It is easy to say a role with the academy or scouting or indeed any other role but, this all costs money and money is what we are struggling to generate at this moment in our history.  A fit Cameron lining up at 14.55 on a Saturday in front of the main stand is what I think we would all like too see, but personally I have my doubts. Come on Cameron prove me wrong. :oldman" :farmer:

In what way Dazza?

:dontknow:  Why wouldn’t it be self funding? It would be at other Clubs at this level.

I raised this issue in May and I am really feeling now that Cameron’s time could be up, good player if fit but already missing matches and training. Can we afford to run with a small squad and player’s only playing occasionally.

I would still have Richards in the squad but he has gone to Brackley (NLN) having reportedly had a trial at Dagenham, Carey obviously has (rightly) got a chance in the EFL but I don't think any of our other midfielders from last year are now at NL clubs and I don't think we had any rivals when we signed King from Halifax all of which probably tells its own story.

It would be a real shame if this is the end of King at the club, my problem has never been with his ability but as Daz has said, we have a finite (and limited) budget so have to get every last bit of value out of it and we just can't afford to have a player regularly unavailable.  As for coaching, we have to be careful of just saying "find an ex-player a role", wouldn't it be better to have a Jarvis type player/coach who has (or is working towards) the relevant badges and more coaching skills and experience?
