Boreham Wood v King's Lynn Town

The Linnets make their first visit to Meadow Park on Monday (3 pm) looking to avenge the 3-0 defeat inflected on them at The Walks in October, which saw Lynn playing the second half with ten men having had Jamar Loza sent off seconds before half time and Archie Mair the hero for his saves and unfortunate villain for conceding a penalty.

Having reached the play-offs last season, 15th placed Wood have become the league's draw specialists this campaign with 16 matches ending all square, 6 of the goalless. Goals, or lack of scoring them, seem to have been a problem for both teams of late. Lynn having not scored in 298 minutes and Wood for 360. Wood having failed to find the net in seven of their last eleven league outings.

While Lynn were losing to Stockport last Tuesday and getting a point against Maidenhead on Saturday, Wood have been without a fixture for eight days having lost 3-0 to Stockport on 24th April.

The main source of Wood's goals is Kabongo Tshimanga who scored twice against Lynn and has notched 17 so far this season bring his total since joining the club to 31 goals from 65 appearances. Along with Tshimanga is the physical presence of Matt Rhead scorer of the other goal against Lynn.

Lynn will hopefully have Elkan Baggott available following his FA Youth Cup exploits with Ipswich Town.

Linnets lose 5-1 after Gash gives them an early lead.

All you can say is it’s another game ticked off.   Reset button pushed in the summer, slate wiped clean and proper stuff starts again in August.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

BW are a mid table side in this league.

I am currently struggling to see how a part time outfit can  compete at this level.

Not sure who is still part time, but already relegation next season looks like it could be any 2 from Weymouth, Wealdstone and Lynn.

Not sure if it will be 3 or the normal 4 Clubs relegated next season KES.  Don’t you think Dover are worth a consideration in those who are relegated in 12 months time?

SC was saying in the EDP it’s not been decided if Lynn will be full time next season.  With the right budget I’m sure IC won’t be thinking of a relegation dog fight next season.

I didn’t see that one myself Mallard, but if that’s correct it’s a bit worrying.

The Chairman’s plan and ambition has always been for Lynn to play League football. To get to that level you have to navigate through the National League. Therefore he must have known a full time squad would be required, with all the expense that will incur.

As he must have been aware of this you would hope that he had the financial side of it already prepared, be it his own money or outside investors.

The other week he was in the papers saying the plan for Lynn to play League football remains the same.

Nobody would ever dream of thinking that a part time squad could achieve league football, so have the plans for further advancement been put on hold?

If there’s been a change of plan, the supporters need to know. For many it will be something they need to know before committing themselves to season tickets and associated costs.

In the same article the Chairman said he has one or two things up his sleeve.  Maybe the table got sold along with the Landrover ?

A new training ground and a big sponsorship deal worthy of a National League Club?

Although it’s understandable that the first to be dependent upon the latter.

I don't know the Chairman and I don't have a clue what his character is. However he has stayed through this very difficult time and no doubt put a lot of his own money into the club. He is unlikely to get any out. Some of the so called fans on this forum seem to spend all their time bitching about what he has done or, in their view, not done. Please stop talking and writing this squit. Get behind the club and lets keep on a troshin. If your faver has got a dickey bor then you can comment, otherwise stop.

It’s tough for Lynn supporters to see the team on the end of some heavy defeats, but I think Ian Culverhouse should be praised for keeping things going in very difficult circumstances and without most of his first-choice players.
I certainly don’t have enough information on the club’s financial situation or the long-term ambitions to draw any conclusions on what happens next. And that brings me to my main observation - how lacking the club are in keeping fans abreast of what is going on. Even updating fans on who was furloughed or injured has been poor. For instance, does anyone know what has happened to the on-loan Mair?
If Lynn do have real ambition to progress to a higher standard, then I think that is one area in need of massive improvement.

Culverhouse deserves all the praise going for accepting the poisoned chalice he was given.  The guy has bit his tongue and just got on with things as best he can.

As for communication.  SC use to produce a regular podcast.  Seems like that idea is now dead on the water.  I remember when it was a weekly update.  Think it must be between 5-6 weeks since the last one.

However with all the backroom staff the clubs has ( or had) you would think the likes of Markus Hearlus would be keen to keep the fans updated.

Hopefully get the next couple of weeks out of the way, then the slate is wiped clean.  Let’s think positive and see a club that embraces its fanbase and shares as much info with them as possible.

You only have to look at Old Trafford and the Glaciers to see when it goes wrong, it goes horribly wrong.
