Glad to see you can get 3 free hours for use of the park, was one the last free places to park in town, after they put pay and display on the quayside.

I presume there's no point doing the same at hospital end, if there's thoughts of a new stand at that end.

That’s very good news !  On the Hospital End, good question from B & Q.  We badly need a stand at the Hospital End, covered, and deeper, plus, IMHO, steeper terrace at  the Tennyson End.  I know it’s money, money, money, but if we prefer this level or the League, and can sustain it, it’s essential.  It would almost certainly be imperative if we are serious about the League, eventually.

Really can't see that there is the finance within the club or the appetite within the council to spend taxpayer's money on a new stand.  There is also the view that it would just be 'good money after bad' and that any substantial investment would be better spent going towards a new ground (out of town) than developing the Walks which will always be massively compromised with it's location and drainage issues.

With You Tony in that one.  The Walks now has a ground capacity of in excess of 5,000.So until we regularly hit gates of approaching that level then what is the point of a stand to accommodate anymore would be fans.   Let’s not forget it’s not so long ago we were pulling in 500/600 fans for a home game.    When when we won the NLN The average was around 1400. Even for the top two games that season neither were a sell out, even with a large traveling away contingent

I wonder how much the council value the land The Walks is on? Prime real estate where houses could be worth a small fortune. Park views, walking distance of train station that's straight into London. Developers dream.

Ideal for me if money was there to do a good stadium with council backing after selling the stadium land, locate it Greenyard Way, where the road infrastructure is already there. If logistically possible, have the main stand moved over from existing ground, have two terraced ends, and a brand new main stand that has top hospitality facilities. Giving size of land, can even build a few houses on there to recoup some of the money for the council (or go commercial to bring in jobs/investment to Lynn). There's also already a foot bridge going over the trainline so you can walk to the ground from Gaywood area (plus in future big games, links with the schools can see parking used at their places with a small fee going to them so the car network is distributed more away from the actual ground).

Logistically ideal, just unsure if council have that area/land earmarked for housing development. Fylde I always see as the template for new stadiums in the top level of non league if you want to go the full works.

An idea that has been around for a number of years, in one form or another.

A great chance to build something for the club and the local community. Sooner or later something serious is going to have to happen with the Walks, irrespective of the level the club plays at.

As long as a new stadium doesn't have a bloody running track between the supporters and pitch.

With regards to cost, could it even be self funding? Selling an attractive piece of real estate and using the money to buy and develope agricultural land sounds good.

I'm pretty sure that the Walks stadium and all the land around it known as the 'Walks' cannot be built on or sold for housing development unless an Act of Parliament is passed. It's protected in perpetuity I understand.

Attelborough Doug is spot on it has got a covernant on the ground and should
only used for football or sport. As for the car park being laid at Hospital End that would
be up to the club not the Council.

If it made the Council a few Bob, and released the Council from their responsibility towards the  Walks Stadium, my money would be on it being possible to do.

Correct, but so would the Tennyson End, which is why "ownership" was transfered back to Council.

Only runs to 2024 according to a story on the Trust News pages. Would be a massive loss IMHO and any move would have to be sustainable, we don't want a Nene Park situation on our hands. Town centre grounds should be embraced but maybe I'm just a legacy fan!
