All quiet on the Western (Norfolk) front today......not too surprising after yesterday's sobering news.

I guess IC will be determining his "Retained List" this week.

I personally think the next new addition might be a centre half....any thoughts?

With McAuley gone, would you look to bring in a young hungry one or someone who has been through the mill and knows the difference between a Liebfraumilch and a can of tizer?
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

We need two I reckon, both at least 6ft 4, mobile, comfortable with the ball at their feet and with at least 3 years experience at NL or above. Then with Kyle and Tai we are sorted (Barrows as utility back up)

Maybe even a couple who have played together and come as a pair.  One  youngster and one with experience.   Bit of tight criteria that to find.   Oh hang on ...

Can't see we have the budget for 2 new centre halves plus McFadden, Fleming and Barrows.  Last year IC went with a much bigger squad than in previous seasons, possibly due to the COVID compressed fixture list, and we ended spreading the budget with lots spent on players that didn't even make the bench most weeks.  I think we have to be smarter this season going back to that smaller core squad model and then make better use of the loan market if injuries arise.

For me, I would be happy with one additional experienced centerback (the lad from Ipswich might be out of our reach but something similar) and then maybe a loanee.  If Fleming is retained then we really ought to be looking to loan him out to get game time as I would be surprised (disappointed) if he was part of the matchday squad come August.

Try to lure Andrew Boyce from Eastleigh. Ex Linnet who may be more local to the town than the south coast. Of course he'd need convincing of the clubs ambition.

I think realistically we'd need 3 starting quality centerbacks. In my opinion, someone experienced coming in over a young and hungry player

Personally don't think that is sufficient for us to stay in the league Tony. We will want to play 3 centre backs in some games (Kyle plus 2) and will need a back up on the bench(Fleming). Barrows is particularly useful as he could play anywhere along the back line.

This talk of budget.  How do we know ( nor should/will we) what Budget IC is being given to work with.

In the Kitty we have the loan money, 25k gift from sponsorship of the stand, New improvement amounts coming from shirt sponsorship, the money from NL, monies coming in from running the academy.   This is all without the money that will be generated by Mark Hearle from commercial enterprise.   Then to top it up fingers crossed that the gate receipts will be bringing in 50k per home game.

Throw in a cup run or two plus SC sticking in his normal amount.  We could well be cooking on gas in terms of budget.

Don't forget expenditure should be lower as the Chairman has said previously that there will be ex League players looking for clubs. Think it was £400 a week that was mentioned.
