Fixtures ?  This is getting worrying.  We don’t appear to have a team yet !

They do in the top half, KES.  Patience is the thing, I know, but I’m getting a creeping fear of another catastrophic run of defeats.  Miserable glass half empty git that I must be, I suppose, but crossing fingers that I shall be proved hopelessly wrong….  I’m hoping SC and IC know plenty in the background that I don’t know - but the Dilly mindset is incapable of imagining such a thing ……..  !!

I fully understand where you are coming from Dilly.

I think it's a pretty tough environment out there for Messrs Culverhouse, Back etc. Lynn will be hardly any of the seasoned pros' first choice..or even second or third come to that....and even though plenty of full timers have been released, it's still not easy playing a waiting game and waiting your turn, if you are a Lynn official. This is the first time the club have had to recruit big time, for a number of seasons.... let's just keep our fingers crossed.

Dilly, just to take more from your glass - Bet Victor have us as joint 2nd bottom of the odds at 250/1 for next season, basically only Dover below us and the few predictions I have seen on the national forums all seem to think we will struggle next season.

On a more positive note, I am not really concerned about the lack of signings this early - we need numbers by the first friendly in three weeks but more importantly need a competitive, balanced squad by the 21st August which is still a good way off with plenty of player movements to come between now and then (I still think we have to find a way to offload some of those on the retained list).  Just have to hope that we learned from the mistakes made going into last season and have a much, much clearer idea of what we need rather than just signing random players which seemed to be the order of the day last season.

I remember similar odds when we arrived in the NLN Tony ! How anyone can put together a set of odds at this stage when the squads aren't known, I don't know....can only be based on last season's finishing positions I guess. Agree with you that there is no immediate hurry for mass signings, but we do need a together squad that has played several games , before the season kicks off, so we get off to the best start we can

Whole new ball game for us this season.

Squad revamp in progress so looking to change a lot of bodies.   Full
Time means that we are looking for a different type now. As has been said we are not going to be the top of anyone’s list.

We now have agents to deal with then trying to persuade a player to join a Club who won’t be paying huge wages. A club that is based in a Norfolk backwater whose training facilities are even further a long the road.

Basically for any player to join there are a lot of consideration not least is living, travelling arrangements.

Keep the faith im sure IC and Backie have a lot of players under the microscope.   Still think we will a few trialists who will want to have a look at us and us a look at them.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

Barnet are saying there's plenty going on behind the scenes, but new players won't be announced until July 1st, due to contractual reasons  :dontknow:

With Lynn going full time that will mean players receiving a salary 12 months of the year..  So as soon as they put pen to paper the outgoings start. That comes at the same time of no income at the club.

This is maybe why SC is so upset that he can’t get more than 25% capacity into the Walks for the opening two friendlies v Norwich and MK Dons.  I’m sure he was hoping for a couple of money spinners.

Absolutely......
It occurs to me that waiting a while for signatures may not be a bad thing given the fact that the variant is escalating. I assume football clubs must be writing something into the contracts re Covid.

Let's hope we don't have any more lockdowns......the problem with almost accepting high case levels, but hoping the vaccines will prevent high nos of hospitalisations, is that more variants are able to form when the virus is abundant.

Next season is by no means certain and I can't foresee any gvnmt handouts for football, so we could be in for a similar situation to last season, with the big clubs insisting everything continues and the small ones using up their recently acquired loans or refusing to play....at least everyone knows the likely penalty for the latter....40k and 12 point deduction.

Well with infections sitting at 16,000 a day and full restrictions about to be lifted in a few weeks then the issues/problems are not going away anytime soon.

Maybe it’s something we will all have to live with and just take our chances.   I guess where Football is concerned some will figure it’s not worth the risk.

Yes - agree with most comments and opinions on here, especially regarding the need for continued caution re Covid.  And it must, unfortunately, be a possibility that a season not dis-similar to the last one could be looming.  My thoughts aren’t downbeat, as I fully respect and support the efforts and abilities of the main management and ownership team.  But I am a little jittery about the march of time.
It has to be said that, in the overall scheme of things, it is true that football is a fair way down the pecking order, especially in this country for the immediate and perhaps foreseeable future, but we’re all on the same side in wanting a viable, thriving club at the end of it all, if that eventually arrives.

I am beginning to sense that a couple of deals may have come up against stumbling blocks or fallen through, given that the club stated last Saturday that they hoped to be able to announce some signings in the near future.
