Good to see us taking in an EFL player on loan although would hope that as an NL side we could be maybe looking a little higher up the EFL ladder, that said good to get another defender in as I thought we looked short (in quality if not necessarily quantity). I would assume this will mean Fleming is going to be sent out on loan to get some game time as he now looks a long way down the pecking order.

Agreed Tony. Sounds again like he wants to play a bit, which is the type of c.b. IC seems to be looking for......he is also 6ft 4 ins, so useful height

At 6’ 4’ I can think of one forum member who will be concerned if he can cope with those slippery Nipsters.

Appreciate the banter !! Firstly, Pens signify nothing. Secondly, I agree that it’s the same old record, but it still needs to be played, because there are people who still don’t know the tune ! BTW, nipsters don’t need to be wingers, nor are they necessarily small. They are players that can sit an opponent on his arse with a swivel of his hips, or his eyes, and nip past him ! One thing on the Clunan comments - I wish he’d stop commenting ! He’d drive me up the wall, as much as he must do the refs ! BUT, I used to have him as a trier, unlikely to cut it above the Southern League, but I was wrong. He gets about, breaks up moves AND, the bit I missed, plays the occasional delicious through-ball that the opponents aren’t expecting. And he could definitely play alongside King, IDHO !! Stay safe folks, we don’t want a reduction in the banterism just because one of our number took our “freedom-loving” National Buffoon at his word. Dilly shutting up now for a week !!!

Absolutely...stay safe yourself.
Btw pleased you have modified your definition of nipster..........good that anyone approaching 6ft won't immediately be termed a "lump" in future
I take your point re Clunan and IC obviously rates him.
However, I can see him and King getting crunched and hobbling off on a regular basis if we are not careful.....we need an "Equaliser" in midfield to dish a bit back if need be, so that if say King is targeted, our guy nips it in the bud.

That’s where we differ, KES - I don’t honk any of that stuff is in the rules. I think you’re getting muddled up with Rollerball…. ( remember that ?). That game would be decided on penalties and sendings-off !

Don't think you're being realistic Dilly.
Word has already got around about King.......teams know he is pivotal to Lynn.....they will be targeting him from the off. .... and if he limps off we are greatly weakened...this is the reality of a professional league....we need to have a way to combat that........this isn't kids no contact stuff any more 😁

Not sure how many starts King made at Halifax but seem to recall there were certain games where he was on the bench, despite having a really decent season. The games he did play I think he was withdrawn in a good few of them.
Well that’s what my memory tells me. IF Lynn can get a fit and focussed King this season then they have a hellva weapon in their armoury

Always surprises me how, the cliche talk these days is often about so and so too lightweight so he may get “harded over”, then the next thing said is that he is “ winning fouls” ! Can’t both be right ! “Winning fouls”is nonsense, as is the idea that a tackle was a “a good foul”. If “a good foul” is genuinely part of the game, why don’t those on the end of it congratulate the perpetrator, instead of glaring at him like they rightly do ? “Here y’are mate. Hers’s my leg, give it some physical. It might end my career, but that’s ok, it’s all part of the game, and I’ll win a foul”!! Didn’t see the Norwich game, but it’s a Dilly worry, as you’d expect, that we apparently have a “handful” and a “hold-up” player “up top”. That can work in odd FA Cup ties on muddy pitches in a howling wind, but only good players regularly win games in a league, IMHO !!

Sorry Dilly but only can say what you see. ( bit like Roy Walker on Catchphrase). No exciting slippery Nipsters who were running Premier League players off their feet.
It was a friendly, very little physical contact of any intensity. I’m sure when we start meeting teams of our standard ( NL) and we have had a full pre season you will see the patterns of play emerge. The two wing backs will get forward more, we will retain the ball for longer periods etc.
The lad Junior did hold it up well allowing others to get close to him in support, but being a Premier League outfit Norwich ( as you would expect) had the lions share of the ball. Junior was not being hit by 60 yard howitzers but balls played into his feet. He is a strong lad.
Let’s see how the friendlies progress, but on last night there looked some positive signs. Like you I think Kingy is going to be key for us.

Sounds promising, but I don’t need Junior to be a strong lad, he needs to be elusive, imo, the. It doesn’t matter how tough is the challenger to him. After all, Foden isn’t strong, Messi isn’t strong, but they make the tackler tackle thin air !

Think that’s taking it the extreme Dilly. We are in Non League Football so have to live in that World and not comparing to the likes of Man City or Barca.
Junior showed up against a decent Norwich side for his strength in holding it up allowing people to get in support of him. Once we start playing friendlies and League games against players of around his level then we can judge what else he can bring to the party.
Will also be interesting to see what the wing backs will offer in terms of us getting forward. Still see King as the lynch pin to make it all happen.
