Covid, what happens when ?

Wasn't it said last season that regular testing of the Squad was too expensive? 

Think we are now in 'different times', if any of the players have kids they will probably be familiar with weekly testing and I know of a number of employers who now insist on weekly / regular testing by employees who come onto site added to the fact that the availability of testing kits is much wider than 6-9 months ago.

I presume you are referring to the readily available Lateral Flow tests. Previously they were talking about PCR rather than the Anitgen test (i.e rapid testing). Apparently it's the PCR test that are the most accurate and the one's Clubs would need to use to be able to obtain accurate enough results.

Basically, it seems that the Lateral Flow tests are aimed at the "wider community", whereas "groups" should preferably use PCR testing.

I think the cost was originally around £60 per (PCR) test, but presumably it's not as expensive now as it was at the beginning of the Pandemic.

I am lead to believe PCR tests can vary in price, with the cheapest now costing around £60 and the most expensive costing over £300. Quite a broad range, but no real sign of a reduction.

Two rooms of the clinic I work in, are used for PCR testing.....£160 a pop !

I suppose if  Clubs wants to charge premium prices, they can't really complain if they have to pay premium prices.

What I can’t understand is people who won’t have the jabs don’t they know they are putting other people in danger we will never beat this virus while people are refusing the jabs imo it should be made compulsory,if not then we will just have to learn to live with it just like we have with the Flu rant over

I would respectfully suggest our current predicament is not so much to do with lack of vaccine take up...which on the whole has been very high and brilliantly rolled out by the NHS...........it is more to do with putting business before health, refusing to lockdown borders before too late, funding an inadequate test and trace system (given to cronies and Tory financial supporters rather than pre existing experts in the field) and childish rhetoric from the PM giving false hope to those gullible enough to believe him. Decisions based on the science/data...my ar*e....1200 scientists from around the world currently saying Monday is reckless and unethical.

The sad irony, is that the best way to look after the economy in a pandemic, is to put health and people first !

I like your comment on people and their attitude to the vacinne. I'd like to see everyone have the double jab. Would a Covid passport really be so bad? 

Not so sure about making it compulsory though. That could be the thin edge of the wedge. Who knows where that kind of action would end.

As Kes says in his post, 100's of scientists are against the lifting of restrictions next week. Personally I can see it being a disaster. It's far too soon to fully open up, and to ask people to make their own decisions on such a subject.

One of the problems we have seen previously is that too many people didn't think the rules applied to them. Far too selective when it came to what rules they were going to obey, and which ones they woudn't.

Football is a typical example with some favoured supporters being allowed in to watch the club's they support, sponsors allowed to attend and even have match day meal, ex players told they can attend games and if questioned, to say they were part of the ground keeping staff. All when games were supposed to be behind closed doors.

With the above attitudes during the height of the Pandemic, what on earth are we going to get when  people are allowed to make their own decisions?

Maybe we need to be even more careful from Monday, with regards to where we go and who we socialise with..

Just seen the Thurlow Nunn League fixture list.  It has been front loaded in the expectation of yet another lockdown of Non League Football.

They have front loaded it that much that half of the fixtures will be played by the end of Nov.  All team will have played each other at least once.

I wonder what provisions have been made at National League level for the non attendance of fans ?

Surely the Clubs and their owners won’t be mugged off a 2nd time ?  Must be something In writing for ‘what if’.

  Spot on.

You can see it with schools. A big song and dance is being made about the number isolating as contacts, but that’s overshadowing the main story that there are more young people infected than in January, and that the age profile of those being hospitalised is decreasing this time around.
