Looks like he could be a useful addition based on some of the comments from the Ipswich fans.

The article referred to above is here https://www.suffolknews.co.uk/bury-st-edmunds/sport/transfer-talk-ipswich-midfielder-set-for-loan-spell-9213450/ and describes Brett as a defensive midfielder "who has been praised by pundits for his range of passing and ability to dictate play" which certainly looked like the area we needed to strengthen after the weekend if the budget allowed.

Comes from good stock.  His Dad Steve was a decent player coming through the Non League game at Thetford, Sudbury and into the Football League at Colchester.

Brett was well in favour under Paul Lambert at Ipswich but seemingly The new boss Paul Cook doesn’t fancy him at all.

Was told he he is a holding midfield player who can pick a pass just sometimes guilty of overplaying and getting caught out.

Have a feeling he will be an IC type of player and I wouldn’t wager against Culverhouse getting the best out of him.

Eagle eyed to pick that one up so early Admin!   :scarf:

You'll be asked to join the Clubs media team if you keep that up!

Very good spot that Admin.   One step ahead of the game there.

I heard there was someone in Suffolk that would like a move.

Sorry to be “ off kilter” again, but it sounds to me like we need a replacement skill-man for Cameron King, rather than another defensive holding player who can “pick a pass”.  I just hope we’ve not seen the last of CK, though I suspect we have….

I think Rowley might be the intended replacement for King, if King can't continue.
Agree with you tho that another defensive midfielder who can pick a pass, implies that Coleman and the new chap could be vying for the same berth....looks now like we have back up everywhere in midfield:

Coleman/McGavin
Clunan/Sundire
King/Rowley

Hopefully Rowley can make that midfield spot just behind the front two his own, certainly showed enough on Saturday given he only joined in the week so hadn't played much with those around him.

KES, I wouldn't necessarily group the midfield like that, I think we probably have three 'sitting' midfielders who are unlikely to go beyond the forwards but all of whom can pass and move the ball reasonably well in much the same way England set up with Rice & the lad from Leeds / Henderson.  Playing three centre halves gives the wing backs much more licence to get forward and, as has often been the case under IC, are where a lot of our attacking threat comes from.  Sundire looked a bit more of an 'up and down' midfielder when he came on but one of the key things I heard from IC's post match comments on the radio was that we have to move the ball quicker, I thought we looked better at that than most games last season but still room for improvement and again something that has been a mark of IC sides but was sadly lacking last season.

With those full backs / wing backs bombing on under IC we were a little spoilt at times with Norman one side and Blake-Tracy the other.   Huge boots to fill
