NEW PITCH
« on: May 06, 2016, 02:10:48 PM »
I watched the U18's last night and they lost 1-0 to an excellent and experienced Biggleswade 'Waders' team. The good news it was the last game on the old pitch as it is being dug up today/tomorrow and completely replaced, well done to Setch and Buster. It should be much more durable and give a really good surface. There were some false rumours going about recently that Buster and pulled the plug on this and was only going to put some seed down, obviously not the case.

All I heard was that the pitch was being completely dug up and replaced, never heard the reseeding rumour, I do so hate to miss out on a rumour!  :argue:

A new pitch great news!...I also hope the pitch markings will be more visible as well?..Last season you could hardly see them!

In my opinion just as important as any new signing we make.
We played some of our best games last season on decent pitches like St Neots and Biggleswade.

We can't control the weather, but hopefully the re-lay will improve the drainage and help to better protect the surface.

One wonders if the cost of totally relaying the pitch will affect the team budget, or will the extra revenue from the reserves cover it,or could we see a possible price rise for all games, first and reserve?  :dontknow:

Surely as it is a council owned facility  that club pays rent for then it should be the council who should foot the bill.  I take it they are using a specialist company to carry out the work.

There was  Sign written van with "Sis Pitches" at Southgates on Thursday, although that could just be a co-incidence.

The pitch has been assessed by a specialist company and their conclusion was the top surface was unsuitable for growing grass!! I assume they will be advising throughout the work

So was the Pitch all dug up at that weekend Tazzy ?  Who is actually carrying out the work ? From your post it seems like a specialist  company are only advising, not actually doing the work.

Nothing happening yet. If someone doesn't get a wiggle on it will be too late. Wasn't it a while back when they installed the drainage and we had to play our opening league fixtures and all friendlies away?
