Future games

Well the word is our next home opponents have a similar or larger support than Southend and its a Bank holiday.
The club have 8 days to sell this game and  improve security and the match day experience.

If you can justify and can afford the money you will go....if you can't you won't.

I don't really buy this "it's only a couple of quid over the odds" argument.

Once the price goes above a person's threshold, that is it...whether it's by a quid or £50, as Dazza's eloquent post demonstrates.

Secondly if you are looking to attract new people/families to the ground, then every pound does matter....again as demonstrated by the Norwich fan who posted on here to say it was too expensive for him to come to Southend.


As I see it there are 2 choices.
The first is maximize the price and hope to rely on the core of 600-1500(as gs puts it) sticking with it  for the season, or

look to connect more with the potential fan base, market things better, improve the match day experience, have some offers on pricing and try to build the attendance and ultimately the revenue that way.

I don’t like complaining and I always try to make my posts thought provoking rather than insulting.
However…….
Yesterday was a mess.
No marketing of game (prior)
The stadium looks a **** hole.
Considering only 1500 home fans getting in was shambles.
Lack of bar staff was ridiculous even though staff tried best.
Lack of stewards cost when minor disturbance and loads of police drafted in.
PA system is broken.
No food at 7 sisters end.
Away fans having to climb barriers to avoid crush.
Gate at 7 sisters end only partially opened after game meaning fans had to squeeze out.
Price for single person probably not issue, however you notice the lack of family and kids?
On positive game was good in my opinion.
Now, our next home game is against another big boy. You would of thought the market machine would be in full swing taking on field positives to build up the crowd. Can’t say I seen anything!!!!
Mr cleave needs help!!
Either a competent team of employees or re evaluate and reach out and get a team of appreciated helpers and in turn engage with fans.

For future games, one of my concerns is segregation - and I mean proper segregation.

As has been said, the Tennyson Road end should be all away fans only,

Saturday, there was an element of colourful characters from another Norfolk club (We can all guess who I mean) and there was a spot of bother just after half time.

We will get some (more) big away followings at The Walks this season and I fear things could get worse if said "colourful characters" continue to come to Lynn - because at the end of the day it will be the club itself which is fined / docked points.

Selling tickets on the day of the game isn't a bad idea to get more fans in, but those fans need to be in the correct area's of the ground - as we move up the leagues, gone are the days of moving to which goal we are attacking

Can't say I disagree with much of this, one thing I would like to point out so the 'lack of stewards' people don't want to be a steward because of the way they are treated by the club told one thing by one person told another by someone else. Its a real kick in the teeth when outsiders come in and do the same job and are paid £45 to £60 a game when our own stewarding team gets nothing. We were told Saturday any disturbances were being dealt with by the police hence why there so many officers present. The clubs upside down and inside out currently and needs to be fixed fast. A lot of staff are getting fed up with it. Myself included.

Totally agree...just been reading the Chesterfield forum with the main discussion being the admissions cost and what you get for it which is crammed into a corner with a rubbish view.They are already aware of coaches being charged £40 and the trouble some Southend fans had at the walks.Home and away fans are not stupid and all the issues are not going away.

When I walked from the Stand to the hospital end toilets about 10 mins before halftime there were probably 20 people with half empty glasses standing behind the wooden screen.  They could well have been the group that caused the trouble.

So had they been served alcohol during the game? I thought that finished many seasons ago.
