The game today v Chesterfield
« on: August 30, 2021, 06:28:15 PM »
 The day started dreadful, taking the knee, what for ? The team played dreadful, all that passing around at the back leads to lost procession.  The two new "strikers" where hopeless, they just didn't seem to try or care like Marriott and Gash did, no wonder we all sang in unision " we want Gash back" at least we got a reaction from Burrows from that, so he at least cares. If I was the manager I would be ringing up Gash and Marriot and pleading with them to play part time again.

Or you could try to get behind the current squad, who are actually competitive in this league and have made a half decent start.

Neither Gash or Marriott shone at this level.......I know some people struggle to let go of the past , but what is gone is gone. Chanting like that is disappointing to me as it undermines the confidence of the players out there.

...and Mr Hill, you seem to agree.........I am surprised and I have to say a little disappointed.

Have to agree Kes. Both good servants in the past but yesterday men. Having said that, it wouldn't surprise me to see Marriott back. If he does return, let's hope he feels he has something to prove!

Inventive players needed ASAP and a striker who moves out of second gear during the 90 minutes !

Yes it wouldn't surprise me either, B & G, though I personally would see it as a backward step.
We played such terrific football at steps 2 and 3, that chances were aplenty..... Marriott scored plenty and missed plenty. Now at NL level, you get one or two chances in a game. We have to see, I believe how the Morias -Omotayo partnership develops, but we aren't really wealthy enough to have a proven goalscorer at this level.....we can't attract a Tshimanga, House,Rooney, etc, etc.
I suspect that Morias, Omotayo and Linton, will be at least as effective as Gash, Marriott and Southwell would be, even if they aren't yet fans'favourites.
I think we will need goals from all over the pitch this season.

When you look at the strike force that Wrexham are able to put out in tonight’s game v Notts County.  You realise the standard of striker that are playing for some of these sides.   These strikers are probably earning 25% of Lynn’s total playing budget, if not more.

For us to compete in this League is a real eye opener.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

Yes, exactly Mall.

I really do think  we are doing ok so far.

Opening game against Southend for a completely new team and we were competitive and just lost out. Long haul of a trip to Yeovil and back, took our chance when it came and got the win.

Only two days later, up against one of the largest squads and wealthiest sides in the league.

They made 4 changes for the match and we don't have the squad to do that.
They also didn't have a 13 hour round trip last match. Not surprising that we appeared one paced at times, but we were still competitive.

Time to re energise now before a chance of points at Eastleigh.

If your thinking is on course KES then next Saturday’s game at Eastleigh could be very pivotal and give us a real clue where we are at.  Sarfend beats us and have lost one and drawn one since.  Then again Yeovil won on the Road today.

I just feel is so very thin and SC could help out IC by finding a bit extra.   After all. SC is sitting on a good bit of the loan money plus he has enjoyed the proceeds from two decent home gates.  All the sponsorship money etc etc.    For me SC is duty bound to support is Manager when he needs it.

Can't disagree that squad is on thin side, especially with King out of action  and a couple loaned out.

Hopefully we get a decision/ more info on King before too long.

I make it 18 players to pick from currently ......we look especially light up front..of course the sending off is hurting the club currently, but we could do with another in if King isn't fit very soon.

Could someone attempt to explain the contempt afforded the away supporters by King's Lynn FC? Why did we have to be penned into a corner of the ground with 2/3rds of the shared open end made available to accomodate approximately 100ish Linnets.  Obviously everyone can see a solution, but hey! let's rip the away fans off for 21 quid and show them as much disrespect as possible by giving them a horrible experience..

At least for the return fixture away fans will only have to pay £18 for a good view, a seat with leg room and a humane area to despose of any excess ale.

Sorry to hear of any fans being treated in such a manner, but I do believe some steps are being taken to rectify the situation? Maybe someone from the club could clarify? :dontknow:

Because we were missing King, Morris, and Rowley today, we couldn’t expect to cause them too many problems.  We were competitive in the first two games, and I hope and suspect that we will be again, soon.  I don’t agree with criticism that Marriott didn’t do it at this level.  He was in a poor team that created hardly any chances, mainly due to Covid, furlough, and temp loans.  He is a player who only needs a yard to side-step an opponent and slot it home, and now that we may arrive in the oppo box more often, a player like him will have more opportunities.  King is very important, but with Morias, Gyasi and Rowley, I could see Marriott doing it again for us.  Unfair to judge Gold Omatayo yet, as I haven’t seen him, but YouTube clips suggest goals will be hard to come by.   I’m afraid we were right to fear Kabongo Tshimanga, but perhaps Rowley and Morias together can give us a similar degree of devilment…..Too early to be despondent…….

I agree it is to early to be despondent and I was wrong agreeing to bring back Gash and Marriot back they are yesterday men and we must look forward, we were missing four good players had we had them playing they would have made the difference
