Maidenhead

Good luck to the team today.  I believe they will compete, but it’s difficult to imagine them scoring.  Football is a funny game though, so they could suddenly get 4or 5 !  That is definitely not a prediction !  Most of us know we must get a goalscorer urgently, apart fro those who think it’s an advantage to have huge forwards, and spend all day thumping over crosses, in the hope !……..

My big hope for today is that we revert to a 3-4-1-2 formation.  We have three capable centre backs without Bird so I just hope we use them, Coleman is back from suspension so should be straight back into the lineup so the only decision for me would be who partners Morias, personally I would go with Linton but neither he nor Walker look like they are the answer and you can see why both are out on loan.  Also a big test of Jones' fitness as I assume Denton is unavailable after coming off on Tuesday evening.

Think Fernandez is a capable left back if needed there.

Yes, was meaning in reply to Tony's point that Jones' fitness would be tested, there is the option of playing Fernandez in place of the injured Denton, so that Jones could play some part as right back and Barrows could replace him when needed.

Just back from a rain soaked Skinners Lane to see this result.  Made my Saturday night.  Great result on the Road.  Hopefully sets things up for a decent crowd back at the Walks at a reduced admission.  Win Win

This season... no

Let’s just accept that IC knows what he is doing with his players.  Let him have a season of goal scoring at step 5.  Then see where we are with him next Aug

Could it be a case of what's best for the club at the moment, or what's best for Taylor long term?

Hopefully it’s one and the same thing.   The gap between Step 5 and Step 1 shouldn’t be under estimated.   Taylor is a superb talent and I’m sure will get his chance.  21 goals in 13 games is impressive at any level.  He is playing in a top team at Step 5, so is getting plenty of opportunities.  That he is of course taking.

That goals to games ratio, says to me that he's too.good for that level. For me, little to be gained by staying at the level for too long, because you can become complacent and develop bad habits. Could probably do with a move to a step 3 club for 3-6 months..... question is, is that a realistic possibility. If he's still banging them in at that level, then he's ready for the first team squad IMHO

Get what you are saying KES but he is playing for a very, good attack minded Wroxham side.   I’m not sure if he would be scoring for fun at say somewhere like a struggling Wisbech side at step 4. Or even a Lowestoft at step 3.

Just reading today’s NLP.  On the Lynn game the journo gave man of the match to Brett McGavin.  Now that must have been one hellva of a performance when you consider he did come on until the 80th minute.  On the strength of that he made the National League team of the day.  Honestly you couldn’t make it up.
