It seems that it's incredibly difficult to find a forward of sufficient calibre at the moment.
All the clubs in the bottom 6 have the same issue. Instead of looking for players who have been let go from higher leagues, maybe the answer is to put a huge amount of energy into scouting.... surely there is a golden nugget or two currently playing in East Anglia, who could make the step up......we have to be bold enough then, though to give the player a run of games to prove himself.

Leading goalscorer in the Thurlow Nunn is .... Joe Taylor for Wroxham.  What other clubs do you suggest might be hiding a gem in East Anglia ?  Lowestoft and Jake Reed maybe ? Shaun Bammant /Toby Hilliard at Dereham ?

It’s not that easy KES
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

No, its not easy Mall.

Lynn are the 2nd club in Norfolk  and the only NL side in the Norfolk Suffolk, Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire area.

Sudbury are on a good cup run.....who do they have up front ?

Do Leiston have anyone.?..Grantham, Cambridge City ?etc......... somewhere at one of these clubs there is someone who is match fit and can score regularly at NL level

Having listened to the latest podcast it sound as if we have a number of scouts out there so let's hope players we need can be found. Perhaps there are players who would prefer not to be full time.Part time job and part time football can at times be more lucrative.

The area I was more thinking of KES was a loaner from Norwich and or Ipswich.  For example hearing that James Norwood as been told to keep away from the Ipswich training ground.   Or an U23 player who the Clubs want to get some first hand experience of some muck and nettles stuff in the National League.

Personally think we should keep well clear of any other loanees Mall.
We need someone upfront who is going to be with us for the next 24 months on a consistent basis.
We don't seem to be in the market for someone of the calibre required from clubs around or above us, do we....so that's why we may have to look below.......is there anyone in NL north/south that we know of or played against in recent times who may fit the bill ?

Jeffers from St Albans has 11 goals in 9 games, Glenn Taylor at Gateshead has 9 from 9.

Given our current criteria for signing players maybe we could try the QE, James Paget, Edith Cavell or Addenbrooke's

Thing is KES we need a striker to come in and hit the ground running. Not sure I agree with someone who is around in 24 months as unless we can find a goalscorer soon then who knows where we will be in 2 years time.

It seems kinda crazy that the Chairman borrowed circa £500k to keep us at the level yet he is not prepared to shell out 800/900 quid a week until May to get a striker in to hopefully achieve the same goal.

The looking for 'rough diamonds' was easier when we were step 2 or 3 as the commitment was likely to be comparable from where the player was already playing but we lost Henderson when we stepped up to NL and Gash this year when we went full-time so it is a tough decision for a potential player to make that jump and they might even be better off financially sticking to part time.  Likewise there are no guarantees we will be full-time next season if we get relegated and imo we already have enough contracts on the books without adding more to the list.

Whilst step 1 is great with the visits of Southend, Chesterfield plus Wrexham, Grimsby and Notts County to come it is nigh on impossible for KLTFC to build the structures (that have so obviously been missing under SC) required as every penny has to go into the playing budget and even then that is unlikely to be enough at some point, be it this season or in the coming couple of years.  As for loan players, I think in our situation they are the better option but our recruitment has to improve massively, Saturday was another example - Torquay have been having problems finding the net but managed to secure a loan from QPR, not saying he is the answer to all their problems but the players are out there but we just don't seem to have the contacts to attract them to the Walks
