As I suggested before, maybe you need to build a team of people who have experience of playing up front at this level.... needn't be too expensive could be on a part time consultancy basis......get  people like  Gash, Simeon Jackson etc (not necessarily those individuals) to vet our targets before committing to them. We also don't seem to have great contacts, so somehow  we need to develop these with other clubs....... expanding outwards to the catchment ( to supporters and to other clubs) and beyond ......... building friendships etc etc

And who would you suggest, within the club, need such advice and support from such 'playing up front' consultants.?

Anyone and everyone who was involved in the forwards recruited to date, who have collectively managed 3 league goals between them with almost a third of the season gone

Surely the decision on who to sign and who not to is down to one man.  IC.   He said in the summer that all new signings had to be spot and he couldn’t afford to make mistakes.  So you would assume that he has run the rule over all the players we have signed and given it a lot of thought on who comes in.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

Well, here we are 12 games in, with those signings......and it looks like they are short of what's required. Keeper....great signing......defenders....fair dues, they look like an NL back line......midfielders, pretty good... probably need a bit more offensively......forwards......for whatever reason, haven't hit it off.......the next forward signing is looking like last chance saloon...... surely makes sense to get as much input as possible before admittedly IC makes the final decision

We also don't seem to have great contacts.......

I wouldn't think that Backie would have many (if any) contacts at this level, but would expect Culverhouse to have some.

Maybe he has, and knows exactly who he wants to sign, but the simple reason why he is not getting them in is that he's not being given the money to do so.

Westlandstar on his post the other day, that he removed, stated that a list of 5 players was given to the Chairman, but none of them were signed.

If that's true, then "mystery" is solved.

If it is a case of there not being money available to sign these players, I don't know why the Chairman or Manager just don't come out with it and say so. It would end all the speculation and its only what the supporters think is the reason anyway.

Maybe, just maybe the strikers we have onboard are what we can afford. You want guaranteed goals ?  Well the simple truth is that comes at a price  that is maybe out of our reach.   One other consideration is the thing that you may have over looked.   Whoever we want as got to be prepared to come and live within a reasonable distance or move.

I think that the strikers we signed did reflect the preseason budget.

However, now that Lynn need something more to keep the dream alive, will that budget be increased significantly ? How much is it that has already been spent attempting to keep the dream alive ?
What's another £50k.

Lets be honest, what contacts do we expect IC or RB to have at this level ? Neither have had any experience down/up at our current level of football.

I would expect IC to be on first name terms with quite a few people that could assist at this level. That's if he has the money to spend.

I would hope IC has an excellent  name in the game as a bloody good coach.   Worked at Colchester, Norwich, Aston Villa, plus Dagenham ( when they were a League Club). So will have made good contacts from this part of his career.

As for Backie, I’m sure he has done a lot of networking in the time he has been in the job as I would think he is very much at the forefront of loans and transfer activity for the Club.

These 5 names of players supposedly given to the chairman to sign. They could have been on contract with other clubs, demanded to much money or just didn't want to sign for Lynn. We can all come up with names for any club, but we're they realistic or even achievable?

Listening to SC on a Walsall podcast the reason why the off field side of things has lagged so badly behind the on field success is that all the investment has been pumped into the playing side.  Now however SC is looking to balance things up.

I kinda think that promotion to the NL from NLN came unexpectedly and no one was really ready for it to happen in the first season back at that level.

Maybe funds that were earmarked for commercial activity were diverted into the playing fund.

However I really don’t think the commercial side has been fully exploited for many years.  No one really has taken a firm grip on it.  Has to be all about getting round pegs in round holes  and not giving the job to someone who in the right place at the right time.
