There may be some, very small, element that promotion to the NL 'came too soon' but the real truth is that we weren't anywhere near ready off the field for NLN and whilst COVID didn't help things we equally haven't helped ourselves either, the lack of appointments (and how some appointments were made), along with the decision to go full time being the most obvious areas open to question.  SC is now trying to change tack, at least he is saying the right things, but I do worry if he really understands what it will take to pivot from where we are now and whether he has left it too late for any change to be effective.

Maybe in turn the promotion from step 3 to step 2 was also caught the owner unprepared ?   A play off game right up to the last could have gone either way.

Be interesting to know what SC has down as a 2 year and a 5 year plan, going forward.  He admitted promotion to the EFL is going to be a far greater ambition than he originally thought.

Given the fact that we were in the playoffs the in 2017-18 season, you would have hoped we had two business plans prepared at that time.  Appreciate that losing the playoff final and IC that year wasn't ideal but you would have hoped the club would have again put two alternative plans in place when we reached the playoffs the following season.  What was, and continues to be, a worry is that there doesn't appear to be anyone at the club who really seems to understand what it takes to run a club - SC may be a good 'ideas man' but I would say we need a proper operations manager who can deal with lots of the 'nuts and bolts' stuff and also take on the bulk of the man-management which doesn't appear to be SC's strength.

Possibly, it may take more than a re-branding of burger and chips to alter that perception.

Is that not something that SC has put in place ?   I thought he has employed a Marketing Guru to plot a way forward and put a plan in place for the Club to work from.   I have no idea if it’s as a full time employee or just someone who is working on a consultancy basis ?

Also SC was putting in place a person who will be working at ground level.  Not heard anymore on this front or seen the position advertised.  I just hope we don’t go for someone already involved at the Club just handed the position, as before.

The way SC spoke about the 'big' appointment at the fans forum was that he was more of a 'special projects' manager looking bigger marketing opportunities or different income streams (much of which would be dependant on retaining NL status) so not that wider ops manager role or adding to the day-to-day management structure of the club.  As for the local person, the big fear is that the job won't be advertised and maybe SC is waiting for a couple of months to see how the season pans out as they are unlikely to add any value this year now.

Sorry Tony but I won’t hold my breath on that one then.  Think we have seen so many false Dawn’s in this particular area and yet nothing seems to change.

Other Clubs seem to well set up on this front but for some reason we seem to struggle.  Wrong people, wrong pricing structure, poor reputation.  Maybe a combo of all three
