Ian Culverhouse
« on: November 05, 2021, 03:11:27 PM »
When Ian was first brought into the Club it was stated in the Media that he didn’t like talking to them because he didn’t feel comfortable doing it.  After match summaries when he has done them have been fine but they don’t last as long as the Press conference earlier this week.  After he said his piece on that occasion, he could have, in my opinion, left the table and then maybe all this speculation (in some cases not complimentary) could have been avoided.  He should be left alone and left to do what he does best and we all know what that is.  Both players said they had had a good enjoyable week training and were looking forward not only to Saturday but beyond.  There are many good reasons to get a win on Saturday but it won’t be the end of the world if we don’t.  We still have plenty to look forward to. Regards - Mic Brock (Badger)  :oldman" a supporter for 75 years and proud of it.

Very well said Badger, I totally agree with you.
IC is one of the best managers in this league and we owe him a lot for bringing the quality and level of football we have now got.
We are not going to get promotion year on year. Success this season is and always has been, to stay in this league. I am confident we will achieve that. As for tomorrow, its the FA Cup and if we take the game to Walsall like we did in the second half against Boreham, we have every chance of getting a good result.

No doubt about it.  IC is an exceptional coach at this level.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

The second best thing the Owner of the club did was to appoint IC in the first place. The best thing the owner did was to realise the mistake of 'letting him go' and not being too proud to contact IC and persuade him to return.

Personally I would say IC is a very talented coach and as this level is fairly new to him, he is having to take on very swiftly what works and doesn't work with the personnel he has at his disposal.

Just as there is a huge jump in playing ability from NLN to NL, so there is a huge jump in coaching ability. IC is now competing with some talented and very savvy coaches.

.......or allow Backie to contact him and getting him to agree to return.

No doubt Backie brokered that deal.

Now here’s an off the wall thought.  How about allowing IC to concentrate on his forte of coaching players ( after all thats his background at all clubs, Grantham apart) and bring in an experienced Manager to work with him.  Looking at yesterday’s press Conference he looks to need some help and guidance

Help and  guidance, or a bigger playing budget.  :dontknow:

I can't see things changing as far as results go, unless some sort of change is made.

He doesn't need an experienced manager to work with him,he has picked his team in Bazza and Backie! He needs to be given the freedom to run the team as he sees fit,and if Mr Cleeve cannot fund his dream then IC cannot be responsible for that dream becoming a nightmare! :banghead; :banghead; :banghead;

I do not get this bit from your post "he is having to take on very swiftly what works and doesn't work with the personnel he has at his disposal."
He has at his disposal what he decided to bring to the club...surely he had plan in mind on each individual, and did not just gather a bunch and then , as you say "take on very swiftly what works and doesn't work with the personnel he has at his disposal."...You are correct about the other stuff, and indeed he may be one of the least experienced MANAGERS at this level, which may be telling now. All in all though on the theme he has done well and the memories of the current regime are good, just looking a little out of it all lately.

What I was actually meaning was that because IC is finding his feet at this level, over pre season he recruited and hoped the personnel would be good enough to see us mid table........that hasn't yet worked out, either because the players are not quite as good as hoped, or because they are rel. young and need time to learn how to win at this level, or because it's a new team taking tome to gel., or a combination of these factors. However, IC doesn't have time...he needs results now, so has to find a way to get results with the players he has at his disposal.

Hopefully that makes it clearer for you.

Apart from that bit of your post, the rest was ok !!!!

Not true as I see it Griss.......... Wealdstone and Weymouth are currently living the dream ...one is part time and one has a similar squad size to Lynn. IC knew over the Summer, that if they got the squad selection wrong the consequences would be severe..... hasn't SC funded the dream of full time squad, with digs for players, analysts etc. We all know and feel another striker is required and hope that happens, but to my eyes that is moving the goalposts of the original dream.....and there has to be a limit to how many times you can keep moving the goalposts, when you have the limited income streams that Lynn have. IC is responsible for having the right players in the squad for a given budget, surely, that's not SC's remit.

Culverhouse is a good coach and tactician. On our rise he has been head and shoulders above the competition. Now there are many in this league equally as good and or better.
With average or below average players at this level we have no advantage over the others.
