Yep, that's what the Chairman appears to say, so I guess that's got to be taken as correct. I can't think of any possible reason it's not.

Interesting comments Dilly. If that is really the case, why do you think the Chairman is so interested in having an Academy?

Approx  5k per year per student,  apparently,  to supply the full course might be a reason.

Disappointed Morias has gone.  He had more movement than most, and his lack off goals, plus the same lack in others, wasn’t entirely his fault.  People keep saying we are playing good football, but lacking goals.  That, IMHO, is because none of the midfielders, whatever their qualities, aren’t creative midfielders, apart from King. so don’t create easy chances for the forwards.  Add to this that Omatayo couldn’t hit a cow on the arse holding it by the tail !!  I think Morias will do well at Dagenham, if they have playmakers, which I don’t know.  I believe we’re two “inside forwards” short, if King isn’t coming back, and a chance taker, but I doubt it will come from an “Academy”, as a) We are too small a population, and b) “Developing” players is an overrated art that seldom produces, especially for goal scorers.  Weekly essay over, fingers crossed for today, and I desperately hope Lynn’s finest don’t turn up to “show those Welshies what’s what.” !!!

Dilly, by your own admission, you haven't been to the Walks this season so are maybe not the best judge of Morias' worth.  For me, most of his 'movement' has been backwards and coming deep when the midfield have been crying out for forward runners.  I would agree that we could do with another 'inside forward', Rowley could have been that player but again was hampered by the lack of movement of those around / in front of him.

As for the Academy, I don't think the plan is to create a fully home grown side but if they can bring one or two from each cohort into the squad and open up educational opportunities for the others then that seems like a win-win.  Dereham have a very well established scheme with the local 6th form which has benefitted both participants and club and they have a similarly small catchment.  For me it makes up one element of the recruitment puzzle and I would say that is actually doing what it should (although I would prefer it had a better relationship with KL Elite), not sure the same can be said for other elements of that puzzle

Hi all, and on the “Academy” subject, B & G and TonyM in particular…..  B & G - I don’t know why SC is interested in having an “Academy” as very few local players have played for the club, or any other club, at shall we say, NLN level or above.  And TonyM - Dereham may benefit from a similar arrangement with a “ sixth form”, but their playing standard is about the level that could benefit from locals, not so, ours…..  I admit that Paul, Hunt, and Carey are examples of where money can be made, but they are so few and far between……. Sounds like Taylor should have been given a chance to see if he could have lifted our goal tally, but too late now, at least for the present.

It is great to see that the Owner has become a real man of the people, now appearing to keep fans informed about his diligent involvement in the Junior Morias transfer.

So that fans do not have to 'concoct conspiracy theories', hopefully, in the next published article, a similar style 'blow by blow' account might explain the Joe Taylor situation that fans are not sure about.
