People on social media calling for him to be sacked. Is this the right option? Will that help an already unsettled club ? Is IC holding SC to ransom here … doing it on purpose? Should SC bite the financial bullet and sack him? Who’s going to replace a sinking ship? Surely two grown men can put their differences aside and have an honest and frank conversation. Perhaps get Jamie Farr to sit in and play mediator as he seems to be the only one left that the chairman tolerates or perhaps even likes.

With the predicament  the Club finds itself in, I do wonder if it would be best to ‘limp’ it’s way to the end of the season then look to do a pre-pack deal.   Ok that might seem a horror story for some, however look at the benefits.

1.  Instead of being relegated to step 2 we take a two tier drop and go down to step 3.

2.  All player contracts would be null and void so we could go back to being part time at a level that should be sustainable

3.  We get to write off the massive loan the Chairman has lumbered the club with for years to come and it all also cleans the books of all the directors loans that are sitting in the accounts.

The downside is of course all the local traders who will be caught up in it all and would give the Club an even blacker name that it currently appears to have.

Shoot me down by all means or offer an alternative

I don't think the word "ransome" is the correct term here. He's on contract, and that works both ways. If a big Club had wanted to come in for IC and he was on contract (unlikely to happen now), do you think SC would have let him go without wanting to be compensated?

Yes, IF he wants him out that badly and thinks that will be the answer to the Clubs current problems, then he should bite the bullet and sack him. Has he got funds available to do that? If he has, he'd be better off giving the money to IC and his playing budget.

Who will replace him? Someone capable of managing a side that will almost certainly be step 2 next season, probably still working on a restricted budget, and capable of getting the club back to step one at the first attempt, won't come cheap. If Cleeve wants a quality Manager in again, he'll probably have to match the current Managers salary, and maybe he will be reluctant to do that.  Bascially, the Club probably needs a Step one Manager or above if the Chairman is to continue following his dream.

Regarding two grown men putting differences aside, it would appear they couldn't do this with regards to the Squad. Now it comes to finances and livelihoods, I would guess that its just down to money now, so it does not really matter if the get on or not. Black and white now........"honour the contract or pay me off". That's one of the main reasons people sign contracts.

With what we know about the current state of affairs (it could be better or worse than what we hear), and looking at the Club purely as a business, and without the passion of football involved, I'd be VERY surprised if Cleeve and his Accountants don't have this option under serious consideration.

If its going to be done, Cleeve would probably want it completed prior to any of the recommendations in the Crouch report being implemented.

With No.3. If a Pre-Pack agreement was implemented, I would guess that the very sizeable Directors loans everyone knows about, could be reduced considerably before this happened. Pure speculation, but if there is  currently an attempt to repay the Directors loans at a great rate of knots, that could quite possibly be a factor in IC not being allowed to sign the quality of players he wants.

i.e. If money is spent in one area, the same money can't be spent in another.

We really are stuck firmly between a rock and a hard place.....If IC were to leave it will be incredibly difficult if not impossible to recruit a quality replacement.

Given the current parlous state of the club with rumour and uncertainty rife, we are hardly an attractive career advancement proposition?

Well things have certainly advanced over the day. Can’t say I’m too optimistic about what will happen now. SC is certainly in a sticky predicament. Wonder if he will get many applications 😬
