Given that the hospitality trade is already taking a big hit, it seems to me that the sensible thing to do is to shut the country down till the end of the year, to give time to assess Omicron and indeed if necessary, the efficacy of any boosters. The current situation is madness, with no real measures other than vaccines and insufficient data to know whether the current boosters are really effective....the government seem to be relying on a couple of early samples on small numbers and then extrapolating it out over millions and then putting the wind up people, when they themselves say they won't have any solid data for another couple of weeks.
