...Was it an enjoyable ride.  Has to be a big yes

What’s the point of an enjoyable ride if, as someone has suggested, the destination turns out to be Administration?

I understand the sentiment but, rightly or wrongly, as fans we have been pretty powerless to have any meaningful input in terms of how the club is run so there were basically two options - 1) focus on what happens on the pitch or 2) walk away.  There have been plenty takers on both sides (I was primarily in camp 2 during Chapman's tenure but 1 for the Cleeve years) and I have to say I agree with Mall, the two playoff years at step 3 and the half year at step 2 were the best football I have seen at the Walks, even if I didn't agree with the financial doping that came with it.  As for those who have walked away, I can understand their view but the Walks has always seems to attract 'chancers' way before the new club was established and unfortunately with a fractured supporter base it is difficult to see this pattern changing in the short term.

Administration can happen for a multitude of reasons.  Doesn’t have to be the exclusive right of success of spending on the playing side. Take Bury FC for example.

As Tony has said the cloak and dagger running of the club off the field saw the fans only being able to take a fix on things on the field.   So if you have someone running the club and pumping the money then your average fan doesn’t give a rats ass where the money is coming from. The success is all coming on the field ( thanks to IC) then why not enjoy the ride ?

From a personal point of view the Football I saw played by IC’s teams at step 3 and then step 2 was the best I’ve seen at Lynn ( and away).   Off the Field was a mess.  That’s a given.

Two great seasons football wise.  You disagree with that side of things Chilly ?

I get your point Mallard, however step 2 & 3 was at a low level compared to where we are now.  Surely the point in the lower divisions is to win that division get the promotion and hope you win in the next Div and get promoted... The goal is to play in the football League Two and that would be a tall order if you look who the teams are. For me staying in the National League mid table winning games regular would be my aim. A good run in the FA Cup would be good too. Just my honest opinion as I see it.

Anton, I think we are way, way off NL as 'a club' and unfortunately that is now being reflected on the pitch.  Personally, given all the turmoil there is likely to be during the off season, I think it would be an achievement to finish mid-table in NLN next season, hopefully we can then stabilise at that level and over time build things off the field that would support NLN, once (if) that has happened then we can think about NL again

Have to agree Tony.  Famous reset button needs pushing.  Hopefully SC will look in the mirror and see where things have gone wrong the last couple of seasons and look at setting up a 3/5 year plan.  That’s if he has the stomach and the means to continue to head up a Football at Step 2.

Well its going to happen. Hopefully next year in NLN Kings Lynn can rebuild for the future. See what happens with the team and what the boss does!

Whether Clunan has gone or not is just sentmental discussion, based on his outstanding contributions to the Club. Reality is that gone or not makes no difference to the prognosis. I do hope he can stay/return with/to this club whilst/when a new set up is  created hopefully no more than two levels down.

Yes good seasons of football up and to including the York game but then promotion by default, Then although Covid gets blamed for everything not being relegated as we deserved to be.
Off the field absolute disaster.
Total lack of sponsorship. Total lack of commercial activity. Quoted vastly overpriced figures for team kit sponsors, board sponsors etc, vastly overpriced to hire the Blue and Gold and facilities, perhaps why there have been substantially less functions in the past 5 years than there was in the previous 25. Overpriced bar prices, food prices (until recently), admission prices, programme etc etc where do you want me to stop.

How many commercial managers have we employed, how many bar stewards.A weekday secretary has anyone ever seen. Crap clubshop and range of merchandise. Lack of stock and despatching of paid orders. The then kitman coming to me of his own back to change names on playing shirts because not given new kit appropriately named. Full time playing staff, what a shambles that is. We are substantially worse there than we have been  part-time. Houses for players that complain of no heat etc etc. 80pence frozen meals cooked in a microwave at training much to the players disgust. A scout who was paid a huge amount of money to find the next Wayne Rooney. Ha Ha Ha. Zero, zilch at great cost.
And best of all £500k handed to you know who to spend frivolously and the taxpayers will have the pleasure of paying that back.

So yes we have had some exciting games but so the club has had right through its existance.
We are currently the laughing stock of non league football and particularly in the East of England.

Chilly all that you say may well be true but is all elements from off the field activities or rather lack of them.

We all know what has or rather what has not happened behind the scenes.  It does change the success of on the field activity under Culverhouse.   It’s just a shame that IC and SC had such a strained relationship as with a harmonious working relationship between the two we can speculate that maybe, just maybe things would have been different for the team at Step 1.

I’m sure Robbie Back was working his conkers off in a Red Adair role.  All it seems to no avail.

Oh what might have been

All this talk of a two league demotion has there been any whispers that SC will allow the Club to fail and re-form ? Talk of a new set up sounds a bit of a punt in the dark.   My feeling is SC will reevaluate what’s good and what’s not good about the club, add in some investment, get some good people in around him and go again

No I am just a looking at the situation and considering all potentials that will come from finishing the season relegated, this will be after a run of fixtures of low attendance and little income,

Thinking about things not everything off field is a mess.  SC promised to sort out the catering side.  Which he has done.   So all things are possible
