When Managers blame previous player recruitment.......

........."Someone in their infinite wisdom decided that this side was good enough of a squad to compete in this division and the league table suggests that it wasn’t."

Someone using another persons script, it seems like.

Joey had someone sussed.  I wonder if SC is taking note.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

Exactly. Glasshouses spring to mind.

Blaming your own shortcomings on what went on over four months ago would be embarrassing to most.
It is the equivalent of the current Norwich Manager taking a side swipe at the previous manager of Norwich for this week's defeat against Chelsea.

Needs to be a little careful as 3 of the current squad were Cleeve signings.  Plus hasn’t Tommy brought in 9 of the current squad.

Digging players out for not being up to standard must be great for dressing room harmony.

Thankfully SC inserted a break clause in his contract.

Ian Culverhouse and his team brought this club back to back promotions.  Tommy brought his boy.

I think he was employed to perform two main jobs.

1) avoid relegation
2) reduce wage bill and get Cleeve/Club out of the current player contracts.

Not necessarily in that order.

If that is the case, seems one is a certain failure and the other is not going too well. Players won't move on or take the loan deals on offer, so maybe trying a different tactic.

 :dontknow:

Irrespective of who signed who, good enough or not, lack of funds to sign better, giving the players a game plan to follow so they can win games,  etc etc etc, this is what he has to work with. He has to suck it up and get on with it. Sooner or later he must start winning games otherwise there's no point in being in the job.

It's a result based business Tommy, irrespective of the circumstances and situation (although I'm sure he'll be fully aware of that).

Player recruitment under his watch at Bristol Rovers was none to good.  According to Joey Barton.

This is all just another big embarrassment by those running this club. TW constantly blames others for his own significant shortcomings in recruitment, man management and tactics. He’s brought 8 players in I believe, 7 out of 8 of them are significant downgrades, and that has come with what can only be an increased , and as a result of this all we have are two more points than ICs time this season. They can talk about an increased PPG but it couldn’t be more obvious that during Widdringtons with his PPG we would still go down without a fight.
All we do is defend, loose and TW blames either the players or the previous management team who left 5 months ago. Has he had no impact over that time or only mentions his impact if we don’t loose.
As for SC, he is more concerned about getting one over IC and his staff than realising what is going on at his own club, which he is running into the ground. His fortnightly EDP columns are embarrassing and I’m sure are littered with lies and untruths, all again to put down the previous regime, whom gained 2 promotions with the club and over achieved, again masking SC’s shortcomings in running a club or business. What other self respecting chairman would constantly try and slag off a previous manager, let alone after two promotions and putting the club on the footballing map. I’m also very surprised the EDP or other local papers and reporters don’t pick up on this or are they all under Cleeves wing and failing to do their jobs sufficiently?
Anyway, whatever happens this season and beyond I’m sure it won’t be Cleeve picking up the pieces.

You know what Preston,  post of the year.

When ( not if) we go down the relegation sits firmly in the lap Widdrington.  No question.  Now Will Cleeve reward that failure by allowing him to Manage the Club at Step 2, or will he hold his hands up  and say I got it wrong again, as I did with the Simon Clark appointment?

Absolutely spot on. Word for word. One thing not mentioned is the continued slagging off of kings Lynn Community Football who have done 99% more for local football than SC will ever do. As for the EDP it is disgraceful for them to print the spiel.
Never mind SC is setting up a new charity, taking on new commercial manager etc etc. No doubt it will be as big a cock up of all previous attempts.
As for TW did he not look into KLTFC before he joined. Did he not realise what he was letting himself in for. Bit harsh blaming IC or anyone else not there now to tell them face to face. TW you did not do your homework bigtime.
Like many before you you have taken every bit of flannel and thought it was the truth. You seriously did not do your homework before taking this job on.

Maybe Tommy is more in tune with what SC  wants to hear.  Something I’m sure IC wouldn’t be prepared to do.

That would fit. Appears to work for him in other departments.
