Call yourself a Forest supporter. Trent Bridge cricket ground , 100 yards from the City Ground and a few hundred yards from Meadow Lane.

I know exactly where the cricket ground is Gordon so what reason did you call the City ground  the Cricket ground and don’t insult me by saying Iam not Forest Fan

So if you are a Forest Fan you would know that Forest are at LUTON on Good Friday with a lunchtime kick off.
Therefore i am going to the pub at Trent Bridge cricket ground to have lunch and watch the Forest game then i will walk past the world famous City Ground, cross the Trent and go to meadow lane for the Notts County game.
At no point did i call the City Ground the Cricket Ground. FACT.
BTW how is the Supporters Club coming along. The silence has been deafening.

In your first statement beginning mines full you called the City ground the cricket ground so take a look back ,regarding the fiends we are planning to put an event on every mth my only concern is that if we do will anyone attend, regarding being quiet we say something when we have something to announce. We are still wanting Committee members we could do more if we had a full committee to help bring new ideas to the table

Malc if the fiends are concerned about turning a profit on any function then begs the question what’s the point in it all ?

Supporters Clubs in the past have always delivered good returns for the Club.  So what’s so different now ?
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

Mall you are right we are there to support the club IMO and that’s the thinking of putting on events to raise money not to lose it .I would love to put on a event with an ex footballer but these don’t come cheap. Also to be a more of a social club, but as I have said before there is a lot of apathy at the club at the moment

Malc you have to think the Twisted Melon outfit are bringing Bez to the B&G club in order to make money.  So why not bite the bullet and give something a go?

As Delboy would say ‘he who dares, wins’

Mall, you are not comparing like with like.  Twisted Melon is a business in 'the industry' and obviously have some sort of track record / experience in this sort of thing and to a degree can afford to take the odd punt on an act based on that experience.  The FotL on the other hand don't seem to have that experience or the contacts to put on events like this, that isn't a criticism as much as a statement of the skillset of the volunteers that form the committee, they also don't have huge financial reserves to 'speculate to accumulate' and really would the membership want their subs spent running speculative music events or (for example) something closer to the fanbase as a whole such as away travel and/or something similar to Gavin's Paul Merson evening?

Unfortunately, like a lot of things at the club, people (on the outside) seem to expect 'instant success' which isn't easy with an inexperienced committee that inherited a depleted membership post-lockdown and with much of the fanbase that, for a variety of reasons, seems less willing to support the existing regime (and by association the FotL).  Personally I think the best they can do for the rest of the season is try and do all they can to increase the membership for next season, maybe run one or two 'easy win' (minimal expense, maximum participation) events and see where they are at the AGM in August.

Tony, everyone committee/ Fund raising has to start somewhere.  Maybe dip the toe in the matter to gain that experience.  Find a sponsor to underwrite a couple of ‘Evenings with’

The easiest thing is to do is nothing. I have offered a couple of fund raisers in the past and been prepared to underwrite ( with others) any loses.  Both times the ideas fell on deaf ears.  How many times can people make these kind of offers before losing interest.

Maybe an approach people with the skill sets needed to help out in the short term might be another forward.  After all the worst that could happen could be no.  There are people around the Club who have made good money for the Club in the past.   Got to be worth a phone call ?
