Not all doom and gloom in Norfolk, had the pleasure today of watching Heacham lift their trophy. In terms of clubs we couldn't be further apart, was nice to go to a game and feel welcomed by all. Carry on the good work Heacham. :cup2:  :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

How many Heacham boys are in this Heacham village team ?
There are 3 types of people in this world, those that can count, and those that can't

Is that not like asking how many Lynn boys are in the Kings Lynn team or Norwich boys playing at Carrow Road ?
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

Can’t see our Chairman putting money into Buxton FC just because he lives there.

Do they serve beer in plastic glasses?

If not, have they got a plumbed in glass washer?

That's it try and take the shine of an amazing achievement.
I present you with the STUPID QUESTION OF THE WEEK AWARD!
Now to redeem yourself name 1 team that has a squad of minimum 20 players that live in the village or town of their chosen team.

Don't think it was a dig aimed at taking the shine off of the tremendous season Gordon, just a general question,as years ago most village teams were made up from the village? :dontknow:

So little old Heacham didn't sit on their haunches and fold they moved on, not like other teams in that vicinity Old Hunstanton, Hunstanton, Sedgeford, Thornham etc etc who did obviously not have enough village players so they folded!
Back in the late 70's i lived in Terrington St Clement and signed for Wereham who did not have enough home grown players to survive. Also at that time Hunstanton had several of my Speedway FC sunday league players making up their team on a saturday.
Heacham Social Club FC folded in the middle of this season because of lack of players available.
Can anyone name me one single team that is made up entirely of persons from that particular village?
7 years ago Heacham FC advertised for a manager and David Griggs was appointed. 7 successive promotions on and look where they are now FLYING rather than FOLDED.
Look at cricket locally, exactly the same argument! Basketball the same etc etc.
Time to move on.

So its nothing new, its about survival

Teams have no chance of success if they only play players from the town or village.  The only teams I recall doing something like that were Celtic in ‘67, I think (European Cup), and Barcelona in their run of about 8 years, when in winning Champs League on one occasion, every player came from their Masia.  It always seems daft when we hear people talking about “English clubs” when often the only English connection is the cleaner ! Exaggeration, I know, but only just !  Clubs find the best players they can afford.  It’s a pity it’s all about money, but it is…

Which Premier Club were the first to field a starting 11 that did not include a single English player?
