Is this Barrie Hargreaves from Hi De Hi? Must be about 90 odd so guess we can afford him and gather he's ace at walzing around defenders 😂

We've signed Barrie!  :welcome:

Appreciate that this was probably said in jest but for me he is potentially the biggest signing since the Warrington game and it has come three years too late - the club wasn't ready for step 2 off the field then and little has changed since.  I just hope that the club (SC) and the fanbase support what he is proposing as no doubt it will take time to put things in place and it would be unreasonable to assume his can fix everything but has to be better than the current 'built on sand' club that we currently have.

To me Barrie’s side of things have to go hand in hand with what Tommy produces on the field.  Both sides then have to work with SC, as everyone knows that is no easy proposition.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

Shame he's not there to sort things out for a takeover.

Can I suggest Joe Taylor, and some quick and tricky midfielders, Hungary-style. Sorted.  Is anyone scouting -lower and higher ?

hes 71 so i wouldnt expect miracles and don't get your hopes up too much. What I find strange is that he announced his plans before he had any idea what state the club finances were in.I would have thought knowing what you can spend and what you cant spend is important when having plans but maybe not.I hope its not another fly by the seat of your pants adventure.Tony its 6 years too late not 3.

I personally think it a (minor) miracle that SC has got Barrie in in the first place, that isn't getting my hopes up but just thankful that for the first time since reformation the club actually looks like it has someone in a senior position with some experience and knowledge to put  in place the structures that are required, appreciate that is still a long way from actually implementing the changes necessary but it is a start.

Like you Tony I sincerely hope the guy can make a real fist of it.  He has the background and the CV in place.  Let’s hope that SC has given him a budget that can take the club forward.  Though judging by what he was advertising for in terms of volunteers does make me wonder if he has been given a budget at all.

He will only have a budget if he makes it himself. :dontknow:

Financially, I really don't think we are in that league.

Its clear to me that some of you did not go to the meeting, because many
of your concerns he addressed, one being the finances. Barrie has not come
in here with his eyes closed and knows what is is needed. Tony m was spot on
when he said he is the best signing since Warrington and that is when he should
have been here when club and the team and club was on the up. He is here now
and has got things moving, as he said at the meeting it will take time pull it around.

Didn't Barrie look somewhat surprised when he was asked about the Sports England loan, as if he didn't know anything about it?   :dontknow:

Of course Barrie (or someone such as him) should have been here earlier. Some of us have been suggesting it for for a long time (and been shouted down for doing so). The reason why it didn't happen before now is that the Chairman presumably thought he could do it all himself (which he obviously couldn't), and people involved with the running of the Club appeared more interested in their cosy little positions and didn't want to rock the boat by telling him he couldn't, for fear of losing the said positions.

First they fascinate the fools, then they attempt to gag the intelligent.

To his credit the Chairman remained loyal to many people who were quite clearly not suitable for the jobs they took on.   Some liked to keep a foot in the door no matter how unsuitable.

Or perhaps their hands were tied and they had no freedom or flexibility to do any deals.

Well that's another week over and another week nearer the start of the season still no news of any incoming players whilst other clubs go about their business of player recruitment.
As least we were treated to a laugh as  Mr Cleave  outlined his hopes of signing AC/DC up for a gig!
Think Sheps Banjo Boys a better bet! Almost as delusional of him getting Kings Lynn into the football League -remember that one? 😂😂
