IF (ok it’s a pretty big IF) Tommy can get him fit then we will have a real machine on our hands. TW says he understands the lad and the lad is all for Tommy then no reason he shouldn’t be the fittest he’s been for a long time.   Let’s see it it Tommy

Josh Barrett signs new contract

I know this won't be the majority view but don't think this is a wise move, maybe if he is ripping up the NLN (which I appreciate he has the technical ability to do) he will attract interest from further up the pyramid but committing to any full-time contracts for 2023-24 is imo a mistake.

Was it not for one year with an option for another year? :dontknow:

It is all a bit confusing. We were told he was signed in 2021 on a two year contract so does that mean his new contract is a pay rise plus and option of a further year?

So Altintop has gone but think everyone else signed has featured in at least one of the two friendlies apart from McFadden (injury) and Charles.  Still plenty of trialists on the teamsheets and probably likely to see a few more come in as higher level sides trim their squads plus the odd loan or two as the season gets closer.  I guess the unknown part of the squad is how much the likes of Knowles and Hudson will feature, hopefully by the time the three home friendlies are out of the way the squad will look a bit more balanced and we can settle things down for the Fakenham and Cheshunt games ready for the 6th August.

I live in Leicestershire and have been told by a supporter of Southern League Barwell that Lynn are being linked with their top scorer (and the League’s last season) Ben Stephens. He bagged 24 goals. Anyone else heard this?

No, hadn't heard about this but if Banbury, Boston, Buxton (or any other B) are also interested, then best not get too excited yet, with what they could offer him.

Good spot!

One of 7 trialists involved tonight!

No Toby Hilliard tonight.

Ben Stephens
b. Leicester Aug 9, 1997
Beginning his youth career with Leicester City, he played for Oadby Town before joining Kettering Town, making his debut for the Poppies in November 2015 where he went on to make 33 appearances (all comps) scoring three goals before joining Stratford Town and making his debut there in November 2016 and scoring twice in 26 appearances.
The following season saw him more prolific in front of goal with 25 goals in 46 appearances in a season which saw him trial with Coventry City, Birmingham City,  and Ipswich Town.
June 2018 saw a move to Macclesfield Town. He was released at the end of the 2019-20 season having scored six goals in 52 appearances. A return to Macclesfield in September 2020 was not to be as the day after he signed the club was wound up.
A second spell with Kettering Town followed making twelve appearances, scoring once.
He made a brief return to Stratford in July 2021 before joining Barwell the following month where his 24 goals in 33 league appearances saw him become the  Southern League Premier Central's leading goal scorer for the season.

After reading a tweet this morning ( later deleted).  Have a feeling Stephens could be a Linnet anytime soon.

That would be good to hear.  :scarf:

Adding Hilliard to the mix as well would be the icing on the cake, although would the Club want both?   :dontknow:

New signing is a striker - https://www.kltown.co.uk/2022/07/14/ponticelli-joins-lynn/

Initial Twitter reaction from Wrexham fans seems to be surprise that he has dropped to NLN and that he will do well at this level, lets hope they are right.

I would still like to see another midfielder in the door but TW looks fairly settled on the Clunan, Widdrington, Hargreaves combination.  Not sure that is good enough based on the last time we were at this level but I guess time will tell.

Looks a decent signing by Tommy.  Could he be our new Marriott? Was looking at an old programme from the season when we won the NLN.  Only one player still with us from the squad from back then.  Arron Jones.
