MK Dons
« on: July 16, 2022, 08:04:56 AM »
Not seen much of a build up to this latest Friendly, which is quite surprising.  Decent League One side.   I notice they have just signed Will Grigg ( will he be on fire?  :stir: :laughcry:).  Those who watched the Sunderland Till I Die (series 2) documentary will remember him.  Joined the Black Cats for a lot of Money on deadline day.   Also just joining is the x Norwich midfielder Bradley Johnson.

Incidentally they played Norwich U23 this week at Colney and smashed them 6-0.   Could be a tough test for The Linnets today.

Hopefully the first team better prepared than the under 23s who were walloped 6-1 at Heacham in the lunchtime kick off.

I had a quick listen to the MKD’s Managers after match interview.  He wasn’t best pleased with the pitch.  Also it seems the game was very ‘competitive’.  He also said MKD created a lot of stuff, mainly in the last 15 mins. I guess this was when Lynn had made a good few changes where some of the younger lads and trialists were put on.

Have to think that with just two friendlies left before the big kick off Tommy will be starting to put out the team that will play in the opening game.

Blame the pitch, easy option. Not my boys didnt do good. Lynn played well. Looking forward to this squad in the NLN this season. Hopefully can look at the table from the top downwards rather than upwards.  TW seems to have gathered a decent squad together....time will tell.

Apparently only 371 there today.

That must be a major disappointment for those at the club, although on a positive note I’ve been informed there were about 200 watching the under 23’s today.

371 for a League Club visit is disappointing.    Especially after the numbers through the gate for the Canaries game.

Can we read anything in to such a poor turnout?  Is the cost of living really being felt by many now and the visit to a Football ground is going to be considered a luxury/treat rather than being there for every game ?

Think Clubs throughout Football need to be careful with their admission charges this season.   PL have Sky’s billions to prop them up, but what about the rest ?

What do others think ?

As the MKD manager rightly said a "competitive" game. As for the pitch it was a level playing field. I should imagine Tommy is probably the happier of the two managers. Lynn were energetic throughout; no mean achievement in the heat! The new forwards didn't get much of a look in as Lynn were largely on the back foot in the second half. Gold looked energetic at both ends and a lovely goal after a great cross from trialist A ( who would be an excellent addition to the side ). Best performers for me were Paul Jones ( some very good saves), Michael Clunan, Adam Crowther,
Cameron Hargreaves., Gold (already mentioned!) but all were steady and a good level of fitness was evident

Thanks for the summary Coastal.  What was the atmosphere like with so few people in the ground?

What system (s) did Tommy go with ?

A bit quiet Mallard. I don't know what the system was but it was quite entertaining :scarf:

Are they still doing happy hour in the bar before and after the game?
