Expectations 2022/2023

As the pre-season closes soon its time to reflect on the coming campaign....I myself are enthused by the current squad and very promising signings made....at last a quality striker or two to add to our depleted frontline. The gaffer/chairman must be pleased with the outcome👍
My prediction will be in and around the top four all season, I cannot see other than afc fylde/Spennymoor being the major threat🤔
Let's get the the crowds back....memorable Tuesday evenings etc etc...up the linnets💛💙

Would like to see the Linnets get a place in the play offs think that's the minimum
expectation of any relegated club. However got a horrible feeling they will struggle in a very physical league -mid table as best -hope I m wrong

I would think that mid table would be a financial disaster for the club, as I would expect attendance figures would fall dramatically. It’s got to be play off place as a minimum.

I think Tommy now has a squad that will prove difficult to beat. So can see a top 6 finish.    Will fans support as much as last time under Culverhouse ?.  If not will the Chairman be prepared to bankroll it for the season ?

More confident after the recent signing of the two forwards, let's hope there's a decent supply for them. I  feel that was lacking last season, leading to a lack of chances being created.
I feel top six is realistic, and hopefully a few hundred more fans each game.

Somewhere between 8th and 14th for me. A tough league where physicality plays a big part so can expect several suspension s  travelling will also be another consideration  a long coach trip play and then home again.. hopefully I am wrong but we need  someone who can stick the ball in the net regularly

Apparently there will be overnight stays, so the travelling shouldn't be a problem.

Quite a few 0-0 matches ahead. Defence seems solid but where are the goals coming from?.
Being a full time team Lynn should be slicker/fitter than those who are not
Hopefully TW can get the forwards firing on all cylinders.

TW didn’t impress me last season, but he can have no excuses this season, although saying that, the pitch looks far from ideal. I’m pleased he has brought in two forwards, only time will tell how good they are. Jordan from Wrexham, you would assume should be good at this level.
People say the north is a physical league, is it any different to the south?, I doubt it. Previous comment said, any relegated side would be looking to be in the play offs. To get there in the first place we had some good fortune in regard to when the NLN was stopped for covid, as our form was very poor. We also had Marriott and Gash scoring regularly.
Apparently, we have got two opening games that we ‘should win’. Umm, Bradford Park Avenue, remember what happened the last time we played them. They were bottom, we were top and we lost 1-0 at home. Staying full time, should give us an advantage, hopefully we can make that count.
Maybe TW should take 10 games at a time to see where we are, it worked to good effect for IC. If we can get off to a good start, that would be great, but it’s a long season.
Expectations - there will be some good teams, not least Boston United. Top third is my expectation.

Personally I will be happy if we are top half / pushing around the playoffs, whether that will be good enough to satisfy the fans in sufficient numbers or SC, who will presumably be have to find the shortfall to cover the financial doping to cover a full-time squad, remains to be seen.

The gate is determined by the footballs clubs ability to bring the community in.  Other than the football, can someone tell me what community activities the club conduct to bring more people in on game days?

I look around  non-league football for the community stuff and see so much going on, supporters clubs collecting for community food banks, clothes for refugees,  blue light days, a different charity every week,  Kick it out campaigns, kids shoot out comps,  a non stop community drum beat, that endears the locals to the club, not just the league position.

In my world,  the football is secondary but the club is everything.

Totally agree with Kevin. Although you will always get a few trophy hunters who turn up only when the team does well the vast majority of football fans I have known want to feel part of the club,they want to feel wanted /loved and respected I stopped going to the walks few seasons ago when I felt this didn't happen at the Walks any longer .
Still Like the Linnets to win but go to Heacham Now who tick.all the boxes

Kevin, I am not disagreeing with the premise that more community involvement = better attendances (particularly if conducted and measured over the long term) but equally if all other things at the club remain unchanged, league position (rather than the league itself) has a reasonable correlation with (home) attendances at the Walks.  All of the things you have mentioned above are 'possible' and would be welcome additions at the Walks but the club has got arguably got enough problems of it's own without stretching it's resources looking to do lots of 'other' things, at least in the short term.

SL, interested in when you think things changed for you?  In what way did you 'feel part of the club' more under Bobbins or Chapman than SC?  For me, I struggled for a long time after reformation feeling anything and never really connected to the club that Buster owned but Culverhouse (more than SC) brought me back on a regular basis.
