It’s Back. BPA v Kings Lynn
« on: August 01, 2022, 08:43:40 AM »
Our first game on a new adventure.

Any thoughts on starting 11?  Would we be happy with a point or should we be looking for all 3 against one of lesser fancied teams ?

What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

Mall, maybe someone who has seen us pre-season can help with formation but it appears we have been going with a back three although again always difficult to judge when you are playing teams way above or way below our level in the pyramid.  Although not too many new faces in the squad, I am still not sure how TW plans to set up our attacking options so maybe something like:

                Jones
   Coulson, Crowther, Denton
Jones, Clunan, Hargreaves, Scott
                Barrett
       Omotayo, Ponticelli

subs: Fleming, Widdrington, Stephens, perm 2 from the others

As for result, I would be happy with a point as I still think the league is harder than many give it credit.  Happy to see how things settle down under TW in August and can form more of an opinion after the first half dozen games, certainly no-one in those fixtures that we should fear with Brackley losing a lot of last years squad.

Tommy should be going for three points in every game, and I think he will.

Think Tony’s 11 looks about right.  Bench will probably pick itself.  We have a 20 man squad.  Two of which are on the comeback trail from injury and two young lads who maybe would benefit from being sent out on loan.

Saturday wiil be the litmus test of the season to come. We have come through pre season quite well...now the games to come, something tangible, ie 3 points, is at stake. I'm optimistic that that we are going to do really well this season. TW has HIS team now, so i just hope we get the attendances that the team hopefully deserve.

Didn’t go to any pre season games so not sure of starting 11, but would think it would be similar to the Lowestoft game. Hopefully Omotoyo will be better at this level and will be a regular goal scorer. Agree with others that this league will be tough, we may have had two seasons in the National League, but we simply weren’t good enough in either of them.
I’m sure lessons have been learnt. Staying full time will help and overnight travelling will do too. With the much improved training facilities in Ely as well, the team should be well prepared for match day. Barrett, again can’t comment, but if he is fully fit would be a real asset. If he does get fully fit though, would he stay.
Bradford Park Avenue have a non grass pitch, so hopefully we will adapt to that. When we won promotion to tge NLN, our aim that season was to not get relegated, we just happened to win it. Maybe Peterborough Sports will do that this season.
Score prediction BPA 0 - 2 KL here’s hoping.

I think Hargreaves will be the deepest mid and break things up, Clunan and Jones double up on the right. Barrett as 10 but drifting out left and Gold as the focal point up front

At least this forum is showing some interest in Saturday’s game.   Seems like Reg and his team have forgotten the season starts Saturday.

Then there's the small issue of this seasons Squad photo's. Club's site is still showing last season's squad with the likes of Ross Barrow and Malachi Linton still being here, and of course none of the new signings.   :dontknow: Reminder........we KO this Saturday!

Clubs site is also still showing last seasons league table rather than this seasons, ready for KO.

Still showing Dale Stokes as Football Development Officer who apparently left his position a couple of months ago.

If the Club really wants more fan involvement and engagement, they need to up their game a bit in this area.

I thought this guy Reg was going to take the club to a new level in terms of Media coverage.  Mark Hearle as a volunteer was far more on the ball than what is currently coming out of the Club.   What is Reg actually doing to earn his corn.

Losing Barrie was a big blow doesn’t look like SC has much back up on off the field support.  Really have to feel for the bloke.
