Promotion of games
« on: September 14, 2022, 11:23:13 AM »
The hierarchy can not complain about attendances, when they themselves are doing nothing to promote home games.
Very little on social media until 11th hour, that there was a game on.
There is nothing flag waving the excellent start to the season.
You can have the a great product, however if you dont go out a sell it, you have no sales.

Yep, not exactly rocket science, is it!

In fairness SC was reaching out in his programme notes for anyone to help out with Social Media.   Maybe Reg could take it on if the money was right.

Yet again SC uses his programme notes to pick unnecessary fights in the same manner as his EDP articles but most of us are accustomed to that now.  The big worry has to be that attendances are 'well below' what he budgeted for, as I personally think they are probably in line what could be expected, albeit maybe below what you would hope for a team that is doing so well but that wouldn't have been part of the thinking when setting the budget.  Are we seeing the impact of the cost of living increases and/or fans becoming disillusioned with the club / pricing over recent years not coming back?  Not really sure what more TW can do on the pitch, clear at the top and playing well but equally I can't see what else SC can do to entice enough people back given that he describes lowering prices as 'a fools errand' and would be bound to upset season ticket holders anyway

It is an issue on what’s a achievable compared to what is required by SC and his budgets.  Facts are 700/800 is poor for a top of the table team ( where would it be if we were mid table).   SC has to decide if can afford/wants to bankroll the Club to continue at this level or let it stand on its own feet and take what ever comes in terms of standard the Club plays at.  It’s now pointless bleating about it as it is what it is now.

Interesting Kings Lynn top of the table pull in 714 on the same night as bottom of the table pull in nearly 1500.   One club is full time one is part time.  One has a strong commercial department one has a virtually nonexistent one.

Go figure

Pushing games on club website although beneficial is not the best medium imo... It's preaching to the converted, anyone who interested enough to look at our website would be aware of upcoming games, the promoting and "pushing" needs to be done in non KLTFC places, schools, colleges, more public places, factory canteens, etc etc

Having the fixture board up todate outside the ground would be a good starting point.  Getting stuff in the local papers ( online version as well) about upcoming games. Schools, work places is also good.  Needs to be all encompassing.  Hit every angle you can.

No good SC moaning about gate numbers if he is not prepared to get people onboard who will put the effort in.

The whole concept of how well we are doing needs selling.........

Alternatively the negative comes to the fore............ poor attendance, no money, budget

Maybe he has got complacent for this game as he may think it is only little Bedford, but it has the attraction of the ex manager coming back, can he overturn the big team and get revenge? This has to be an added attraction? As has been said needs shouting about and some flag waving,I did suggest getting a face painter in to paint kids blue and gold for free,or adults if they wish? :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

Interactions with fans when in the ground is great!
But need to get them there in first instance. Need to tell them there will be some free face painting etc.

To me the biggest asset Lynn have in advertising games is Greg Plummer at the Lynn News and that not blowing smoke up his Jacksey.  He comes at it from all different angles.  Today it’s from Setch and Bedford.

It's not getting hung up on face painters it is the etc's that are not being done! It's like me putting a sign in my window advertising eggs for sale, but having a 40ft front garden, the sign is there but nobody can read it?

To be fair, the Lynn News circulation can't be anywhere near what it used to be which is perhaps why SC is looking for more social media support.  Have to say that I am not sure that this is as big a game as others think, basically it's a cup game against a team that was playing at the same level of Dereham this time last year, yes they got promoted and are holding their own so far at step 3 but aside from the sideshow of Setch and Pedro this is just a game that TW needs guard against complacency and make sure we are in the hat on Monday.  Much bigger games to come in the league and potentially if we progress in the cup, better to promote these than 'overselling' the Bedford game imo
