3 -0 win and an impressive attendance of 1,424.

Such a shame that Malcolm Lindsay is no longer with us, as I'm sure he would have loved to have been at our game with Ashington a week Saturday.

Tough looking fixture - only one defeat in 16 games this season in all competitions. I am sure Lynn wil be up for it

Being where we are in the League, we are there to be shot at. Its not going to be easy. I remember the West Auckland game in 98, a very good side, and they bought a lot of support. Very much a football area.

I remember West Auckland too, also Woodford and Parson Drove. That’s the magic of the FA Cup, we have also beaten higher ranked teams too of course, Port Vale only a few years ago.
Tommy wanted a home draw and against the lowest rank side left, so pretty much got just that. We will be massive favourites, but shouldn’t take anything for granted. Ashington are doing well in their league, but it is 3 levels below us.
I would like to see the same starting 11 that played against Kettering in the previous round. It’s great to have the buzz that the FA Cup brings.

I also well recall the West Auckland game and If my memory is still intact, we had a certain Chuck Martini in goal. Chuck was a great shot stopper but when he saw the size of their defenders approaching our penalty area for a corner, he decided to stay rooted to his line rather than risk getting battered...They had a free header from around the six yard line and scored the only goal?

Yes but Ashington are no West Auckland.  Didn’t they once win the World Cup ( The Thomas Lipton Trophy)?  Beating the likes of Juventus  :cup2:

Hope history won't repeat itself although I imagine that Lynn's defending will.be better than Stockbridge 's last night.
I hope that Chorley and Ashington are both aware that the A17 is going to be closed on Saturdays for the next two weekends between Newark and Sleaford.

Good call Mr Chairman now he needs the support to back this generous offer.   If people don’t come in their numbers at a tenner then there is something fundamentally wrong.

Not sure if there will be 2000, but with Ashington managing 1400 + in the last round, anything short of that could be seen as a disaster and as you say, would show that something is fundamentally wrong.
