Another good home win.   Have to feel disappointed that the attendance was lower today that our first home game of the season.

Big game coming up v Darlington a real top
Of the table clash. That should have a gate of 2,000 written all over it.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

Mallard, 2000 would be nice, but realistically, that probably won’t even be close. It’s such a shame though, because the football being produced is worthy of it and more.
It wasn’t such a long time ago, that we had over 4000 for the York game. With the prices reduced for the cup game next week and a chance of reaching the 1st Round, there is more chance of a 2000 gate then.
Just £1 entry for children, if that’s promoted well, there is every chance that 2000 is achievable.
As for todays game, it was a very good display of passing football. Could and maybe should have scored more, but if you don’t concede, then it doesn’t matter too much.

I don’t think 2,000 is out of the question.   Darlo will bring a fair few, I’m sure.  The last time Lynn hosted a top of the table clash was when York City came a’calling.  What a day that was.  Crowd was in excess of 4,000.

Yes another good win I think it’s the best team we have had for along time, regarding the crowd when Darlington come a calling what could affect it is if there is a rail strike on that Saturday

If that is the case then it’s a shame that they have let one man come between them and enjoying some great football

You support your football team, not any individual who may be a part of it. Anyone who was at the game yesterday for the first time would have been impressed. Next weeks FA Cup game will bring more people in, because not only as the admission is reduced, but also the prospect of reaching the 1st Round and the potential of what that could bring.
£1 for children is the way to go, after all, they are the supporters of the future. If we got all the local schools involved and promote the club through them, then that would only benefit.
If we beat Ashington and that won’t be an easy game, despite them being 3 levels lower, we all know that the FA Cup has upsets, but hopefully that won’t be the case. So imagine we do win, then get a plum draw. Then we host Darlington, a top of the table game. Keep the pricing low for that and people will come.

John I can’t see how prices can be reduced for League when that would in turn disadvantage those that support the Club in the summer in buying season tickets.  These people have really drawn the short straw in terms of value for money over the last few years.

Malc you are right in that one man should not come between a supporter and his club.  However SC’s continual issue with all things Culverhouse does turn people off.   I saw he had yet another dig at IC in Saturday’s EDP.  It’s like he has a personal vendetta against the man.

A lot of fans enjoyed the success and style of Football that we enjoyed under Ian. So for SC to continue this attack in print is ridiculous for a person of his standing.
He only has himself to blame for handing Culverhouse a lengthy new contract then having to pay him off when the relationship broke down.

You're quite right Mallard. Very unprofessional and bordering on pathetic.

Not exactly what potential sponsors or even investors want to read, let alone the missing 400 supporters.

Malcolm, as you know, some of these people (and not an insignificant number) have now found otner things to do and other places where they can spend their money. Some are still enjoying their football at other venues, some are now enjoying something new and other than football. It's not them who are suffering or missing out, it's the Club.

Although the ticket price is only one issue, would you mind sharing your thoughts on the subject? I understand that you are a season ticket holder. Would you feel disadvantaged if entry costs are now reduced for league games? After all, it would be in both the community interests (which the Club now seem to be trying to develop links with) and the Club you support.

John, I understand where you are coming from with your comment about people supporting the team, and not individuals. Some obviously think that way, but not all.  Unfortunately the two are intrinsically linked, hence people voting with their feet and the reason behind the missing 300/400 supporters.

If this isn't the case, why was there only 871 spectators watching top of the table Lynn yesterday? Good football to watch, continuing good form and positive results, a Manager that  most supporters are fully behind, and one not afraid to communicate with yet we can only manage what is (for Lynn) a UCL amount of people through the turnstiles yesterday.

871 people supporting the team is just not enough. To progress people need to be happy, and be encouraged to, support the Club in its entirety.

On the subject of season tickets, would be interesting to know how many were sold, bearing in mind the high cost.
Would lowering the admission price be detrimental to many?

The interesting fact is we were pulling in those kind numbers under an owner ( Buster and his Boy) who basically knew sod all about Football and had limited interest in it.  Yet they did know know how to get people through the door and created a feel good factor around the place.

Maybe the current owner should get on to Buster and see if he has any advice for him on how to pull in the missing numbers.

Mallard, you are right, anyone who brought a season ticket shouldn’t lose out, that wouldn’t be fair. Maybe there is a way to still reduce a league game admission, without season ticket holders feeling aggrieved. Let’s say that the Darlington game is reduced to £10. Then has a thank you to season ticket holders, they would get a free programme, a free 50/ 50 ticket, a voucher to spend in the bar, or club shop.
I myself, am not a season ticket holder, but have been watching Lynn since the late 1960’s. In 1971, I was just 9 and the youngest of a group of lads who at the time, set a new world record for playing non stop football to raise money for the club.
I am assuming you are a season ticket holder Mallard, if so would any of the ‘offers’ be acceptable, should any league game prices be reduced? Surely if that brought more fans in, it would benefit the players and hopefully we could keep our new and returning supporters for other games. We need to do something, because gates of 800 - 900 will not sustain the great team and manager, or level of football we have.

One thing I have noticed recently, is the amount of younger people attending.
Seem to be a lot of under 18's. The club must encourage these new wave of supporters to continue to attend. They are the future, maybe a special rate season ticket for 18-21 year olds.
