Lynn go out of the FA Cup......
« on: November 26, 2022, 02:38:04 PM »
......with heads held high.

Losing to 3 second half goals to Stevenage (the 3 goals coming in a 5 minute spell).

Good effort Linnets.

Tommy's boys showed a lot more passion than the National team 24 hours earlier.

Now for the little matter of the NLN title.

If Lynn had scored first it might have been a very different game. They grew in confidence and were clinical in the final third.

Good first half where there wasn’t too much between the teams. Such a shame to concede 3 quick goals at the start of the second half, it was game over after that.
Stevenage looked a League 2 side and deserved their win, so congratulations to them and good luck to them for the next round.

We where still in the changing room when they scored their first goal but we where the best side in the first half, if we are going to bring more players in a first class striker but they are rarer than rocking horse manure

We gave it a good crack but just came up a little short in certain areas.  Switching off has cost us the game.  Thought we were maybe deserved a 2nd crack at them

I have been very patient with gold, but I'm sorry to say  he is  not strong enough  for me  we used to  have a centre  forward called Defty who knew where the goal was and defenders  knew he was there   Gold is of the pace , often 2nd to the ball and his finishing is awful. . He is to soft for a big guy.

With injuries it might be suggested Gold is the main man up top as things stand with injuries to others.

Listening to a couple of media guys ( ok I’ve got big ears) it seems Tommy has been told no money from the cup run is coming his way.

How'd you manage to get into the pres box to hear that? I thought they were tight for space.   :dontknow:

Malcolm, this is football. They're not in the slightest bit rare..........they just demand an incredible amount of money to go to a Club where they can kiss their current badge.

That's the game we're in unfortunately.  It's a very hungry beast that needs continually feeding.

If Tommy is ever allowed to go shopping for such a player, I would guess there is not a better time than now. Money in the bank, few injuries, in the driving seat as far as title is concerned.

My money is on at least some of the other Clubs that are around us in the league, will be doing their own shopping. We need to keep ahead of them, or at the very least keep up with them.

I am not a fan of Omotayo, but it is a little unfair to judge him on todays performance. He was up against better defenders than he has been in the league and let’s not forget that it was his goal that got us to Round 2.
TW has always backed him and when he is capable of scoring, like the 3rd goal v Kidderminster, you can see why. We have done well with our cup run, it was always going to end at some point. Hereford at home next week is a chance to get 3 league points. Hopefully Ponticelli is fully fit, we also have Stephens, who didn’t figure today.

Both far from fit is my understanding.  I don’t really don’t get what people expect from Gold.  He was released from Wrexham so deemed not at that level.  Today he got beat up a bit by top end League 2 central defenders.  Why is that a surprise ?

Just a thought but Joe Taylor although in and around the first team is not getting much game time. I wonder if he might benefit from a loan spell with us rather than regular under 21 football??

Think any team would miss the quality of players like Theo Jordan and Ben.If out long term we need to get quality replacents in.
