Today's Game
« on: January 14, 2023, 08:54:35 AM »
Just walked into ground and spoke to others saying the game is off, when will the club inform fans to avoid wasted journeys ? Went to game last year and it was called off under an hour before kick off.

It's important to wait until there's an official Club statement, before people make any decision regards travelling to the game.

Apparently last night, the Groundsman appeared to be confident that the game would be on.

Great news. Just hope the original post has not made some change their mind about coming to the game.

the chairman has not been down to ground this morning, there was lots of large puddles on pitch(uncovered overnight) at 8.20 this morning.

When the referee arrives at the ground and calls off the game an hour before kick off will the chairman reimburse travel costs to all fans ?

Why has the referee done a pitch inspection this morning ?

It's the Refs decision as to if the game should go ahead or not, so if he calls it off an hour before kick off, that's one thing the Chairman can't be blamed for.

Fair enough, the Club could call for an early inspection and ask for a local referee to inspect the pitch (at a cost to the Club), but I would guess (and that's all it is, a guess), that all parties concerned will  in this case, with the opposition only having to travel circa 35 miles, want to leave it as late as possible before any decision is made.

Forecast is that rain has/will stop. Irrespective of the game finally being declared on or off, I don't think the Chairman can be held responsible in anyway on this one.

Think it’s best to await official decision on call offs.  Putting out personal opinions costs the Club money.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

norfolklynn  lynn mr Cleave has not been to the ground but he has
checked with Richard at the ground there is no water on the pitch
and the head line GAME OFF should not have been put on there
all that will do is put supporters off. Words fail me.

If people take any notice of the rumour, then words fail me too.

A47, it WAS also on other social media sites, and not unique to this one (although that may be inconvieient for some people and their arguements   :stir: ).

Maybe you should have a quiet word with him and the people at the ground he claims to have spoken to. As he was there at 8.20 this morning that shouldn't be too difficult for you.

Playing Poirot for a money.  Maybe NorfolkLynn is actually involved  at Club in some capacity.  Otherwise why was he had the Club at that time in the morning.   Maybe we are all wrong to shoot the messenger?
