Lynn go top by beating Sports 2-1.

Att:1343

Chester score a late goal to salvage a point against Curzon.

Flyde also score a late goal to gain a win against Southport.

Lynn win 2-1 and now go to the top but Scarboro AND AFC Fylde also won; so be an interesting game at Brackley and the encounter with Afc Fylde 2 weeks' time

Not the prettiest game of football, but most importantly, 3 points. Good attendance too, sp all will be happy.
New forward looked decent and scored too. Pitch wasn’t suited to flowing passing football, but considering that, we moved the ball around well in the first half. Ponticelli did ok and will be good to have him back to full fitness.
No place for Ken Charles today, do wonder if he will be here for much longer, guess time will tell.

Difficult conditions but i think we will need to be better against Brackley. After that fantastic first five minutes our game seemed to lose momentum. Lots of possession but little cutting edge that allowed PS time to reset then attempt to hit us on the break. But the most important thing was to secure all three points. So job done.

Very quiet on here, considering we won and went top of the league.
I'm sure there'd be more input if the game had been called off!

We really do need to score more goals. We only just managed to win this game after being in control. We need to beat Brackley mid-week and keep AFC Fylde behind us.  :scarf:

The pitch was difficult by that applies to both teams.  I think the modern coaching term is transition - getting the ball forward? We tended to frequently over play the ball across the pitch -yes retaining possession but also giving the opposition plenty of time to regain their defensive shape, they then being quite content to wait for a misplaced pass before hitting us on the break.

When we were able to get the ball! forward quite quickly their backline was in panic station mode.

I think if we can get a point at Brackley that would be great. A win would be an immense achievement.

Well, after 4mins and 2goals up I thought we were in slaughtering mode. Seems we took the foot off the pedal and this allowed Peterborough time to settle after being rattled by our fast start.

On 17mins their win attack raced past 3 or four players on the left and passeda low ball into a very open box. Tyler Denton did well to beat their strikers to the ball but it went wide of Paul Jones and into the net. Our Central defenders were not there and Tyler was about the only one contesting for the ball. Having said all that, Peterborough would have had a hard job to miss scoring for themselvers.

I thought Cosgrove had a good game. He chased long balls and put pressure on the defenders which usually caused them to play hurridly and not be able to gather and pass the ball properly.

Josh Barrett was not firing on all cylinders and made several errrors, losing the ball and poor passing by his standard. Cracking strike from trhe rebound off the wall and only fingertips by goalie saved a 3rd goal. Other than that I thought their goalie was quite poor. Aaron Jones played well forward and was always available on the right wing, as was Olly Scott.

All in all, a good game by all players - some below par - but we won against a spirited Peterborough Sports team who are worthy of their mid-table position.

Anyone else think we missed Gold more than many thought we would?
Second half particularly, we played a lot of high long balls over the top, with no-one there to win the header for us.

When playing high long balls over the top, I think any player that brings height to the team is always going to be missed.

Couldn’t make Saturday so can’t comment on the game.   Great to see us take the three points.

From the outside for sure I think we miss a Gold type presence on the field.  He can get us up the park when needed he is also a handful for Central defenders to deal with.   He presents an obvious aerial threat in the opposition box.  He also helps out a hellva lot in our own box from set pieces.

What surprised me is that Tommy didn’t go for similar type of player to bring in on loan.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?
