Chester Home

Another big game Saturday against another ex League Club who are up there battling for a play off spot.

No Clunan and Barrett so can see Hughes and Cosgrave starting in their places. Couple of spots to fill on the bench.   With Ponticelli and Cosgrave can see us defending more from the front.

With our very impressive home record these stats make interesting reading ....

Lynn played 12 at home,Fylde  14.    Away Lynn played 15, Fylde 12.

What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

And the 10 points AFC Fylde dropped at home all against top 11 teams

I have to say that I’m worried about tomorrow’s game. We need three points but with Clunan and Barrett out the midfield looks weaker. I hope any worries prove to be misplaced but if I was betting my money would be on a draw. Anyone any info on the situations with those injured?

The first of 3 home games and what looks like the toughest against Chester tomorrow. The absence of the suspended Clunan and Barrett will weaken our line up. Not sure if Hargreaves is fit yet, but would certainly be a good time to have him back if he is.
Can see us losing our unbeaten home league record against a very good Chester team, so going to predict KL 0-2 CC.

I have to agree with John H  , last time they came here it was a draw with  Lynn getting a late equaliser , we have been sailing close to the wind at home and getting  away with. Hope I'm wrong. Should be a good crowd. Around 1300+.

Again, I mention that Aaron Jones is quite capable of playing yhe midfield role of Michael Clunan (Suspended). Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain on Right Wing Back would fit AJ's move to midfield. Cosgrave and Ponts up front (please don't play the Lone Striker game). Is Olly Scott fit? Three at the back - Josh Coulson, Kyle Callan-McFadden and Crowther and Dent's and Theo joining AJ in Midfield.

Just the Bench to fill  :dontknow:

Right wing back is the best place for Aaron Jones.  Need someone to collect those overhit crosses WLM  :thanks:

Mike, TW tried AJ in that holding midfield role (and COX at right wing back) for the first 45 minutes of one home game, safe to say it wasn't a great success, not saying it wouldn't work but maybe in TW's eyes that was an experiment he wouldn't want to repeat.  McFadden has looked off the pace whenever picked this season so with the new lad Jones signed I can't see any reason to take Denton out of, what is our best back 3.

Clunan and Barrett's suspensions does create a problem in that we have lost an awful lot of our creativity so TW will probably start both Cosgrave and Ponts but one of them has to come deeper than when they played up top together against BPA and we just tried to hit aimless long balls.  Biggest headache for TW is who the midfield trio are, Theo got another 90 minutes in Tuesday evening but sounded well short of match sharpness last Saturday but with others missing he has to start and I guess TW will go with Hughes and COX but neither of them have shown enough to date for me to think they are anywhere near pushing Clunan and / or Hargreaves for a starting spot when everyone is available.

The game three years ago was probably the best game at the Walks that truncated season with two sides both playing some really, really good football on the day.  Can't expect the same levels again with both teams struggling with injuries / suspensions but would take the same result.

I’m pleased to see that some are now seeing the disadvantage of selecting teams with shape and personnel of a safety-first mindset.  I believe it has cost us about 9 points so far.  We must see an attacking line-up today, AND away from home, and that means 2 front players, or one so long as the m/f has at least two genuine attacking players.  I prefer 3-5-2, as it gives us 8 defenders when we don’t have the ball, and 7 attackers when we do.  Chester mention playing fearlessly; our line up and mindset must be the same.  Difficult today, as Clunan and Barrett big misses.  Cosgrave and Ponty definitely, & I’d like to see Keller and Walker given more chances if things get stale.  COYL. That’s this week’s Dillification concluded! The Dillathon has been turned off!

Can I ask, have you ever seen any of these players 'in the flesh', can you remind me of a game where Keller or Walker has turned a game or even had any influence on a game, particularly in comparison to some of those that you presumably want dropped in favour of them?  TW proved earlier in the season picking 'defenders' (in your eyes) doesn't make us more defensive in the same way that picking 'attackers' doesn't make us more attacking - imo we have generally created more chances per game (for the team) this season when we have played one up front and had Barrett in a free role, obviously not available today but there is more than one way to skin a cat and so far this season TW has got a lot more right than wrong

The Dillathon has been turned off!

We can but wish

Come on, surely Tommy's not going to let a football cliche like 'suspension' prevent him from picking Barrett again today? Any excuse to pick another defender, eh?
