Great turnaround by Gold, TW seems to have great man management. For Gold 20+ goals is achievable, also considering he hasn't  started  every game, missed games through injury excellent return plus his defensive duties   .  The "legend" , for some , Marriott only has 8!

For all the good work Marriot did during his time at Lynn, I think he's miles away from ever being regarded as a Lynn legend.

That title takes years to earn.

Comparing Apples and Oranges Graham.  Goals, as both Marriott and Omotayo have proved are much, much harder to come by in NL compared to NLN.  That isn't to belittle either's goal scoring at our current level although both, to a degree, benefited from managers who set up their sides to get the most from them.  I would guess Marriott's goals per game at NL would be higher but as you point out Gold does more work in his own box from set pieces so has another string to his bow

:oldman" :farmer: Well, I would say that a manager setting his team up too what he has available to him on the pitch is, usually the sign of a good manager, playing to what he has,not what he’d like to have. :oldman" :farmer:

How many goals did Marriott score the season we got promotion from this level ?

Very difficult to make comparisons between the two.  Adam was an out and out goalscorer. While Gold does his fair share of defending from set pieces, plus he lays on chances for others.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

:oldman" :farmer: Unable to attend today, (bloody work), but just logged into forum and see Gold has another to his name, yes it’s a penalty but obviously he’s dispatched it into the back of the net, yes you should score penalties but many attempts are missed, just ask Josh Barret, not always easy. COYL.  :oldman" :farmer:

He's done it again!
I'm sure some people will be disappointed...

And another one.
Was only a penalty though... :welcome:

:oldman" :farmer: It’s a funny old game, as the great GREAVSIE used to say, Gold really has put himself around this season for the cause on the pitch,  many people have criticised him over his course of time with KLTFC, but not many have indeed praised him for his commitment and contribution this season. Where would we be in the league table now, if he had not scored as many goals as he has so far this season. Keep going Gold and with others also chipping in with goals, there is still a decent chance we could win this league. :oldman" :farmer:

Gold seems to be a real 'marmite character', dividing opinion more than any other player in our squad?

Think that is fair Rod, possibly because he is the most 'extreme' player in terms of what he can and can't do.  If you look at what he does outside of the two penalty boxes he is a very average step 3 player who doesn't win a great percentage of headers and hasn't got the ball control you might expect from a full-time professional forward.  However, put him in our box and he wins a huge percentage of defensive headers and is also very nimble for a big guy which gives him that advantage in the opposition box which has resulted in a very good scoring record this season.  As for him finishing his career with us, I would think that unlikely - if we go up then he isn't what we will need and I am not sure SC's programme notes point towards us remaining full-time should we be NLN next season.

:oldman" :farmer: Well guys and gals, we certainly have a thread here that seems to keep bringing up opinions on Gold, it’s also nice to see that there are differing opinions but nobody has been abusive or nasty indeed towards Gold or any other contributor.  On to tonight and see if we can extract revenge and hopefully see Gold,Aaron and indeed Ben add to there seasons goal tally so far, but I personally would really like to see PONTS get a couple or more, he was so dangerous before his injury and looked the real deal at our present level, not yet hit those heights again but a player I personally would always like in my team. COYL win tonight and we will remain top. :oldman" :farmer:
