As predicted,  he's let everyone down.
People on here crying out for a 20 goal a season striker, and he goes and gets 21!

:oldman" :farmer: I started this thread in February Mall, and I originally started it as I had heard and seen it written, that Gold was this, and Gold was that, he didn’t score, not really a striker, not good enough in anything he seemed to do, well look at his record of goals now, look at his assists with his head , look at his prowess in our box when defending, in my opinion he’s a real team player and praise is due. Well said Jesus, you are only stating what many more have heard and seen, like you say the knockers seem to have gone quiet of late.  :oldman" :farmer:

Shots supporters hoping he'll join TW.

A thread started on Shots forum dedicated to the hope of getting Gold in the summer.  They seem to think he’s out of contract in June and are hoping W has had his ear already.

Surprised, if his contract is up in the summer we haven’t tied him down.  Or maybe we have an option on another year ?

Second….Spennymoor forward has 21… but thank goodness for Gold. Aaron Cosgrave started like a house on fire, but hasn’t been first choice often of late. When you see that the next highest scorer has only 8, it just highlights Gold’s value….and he does a helluva lot of defending too.

Never a lover of a striker hiding behind penalties.......
Ponticelli and cosgrave all day long for me....
As for gold is excellent at defensive duties, buy a decent defender then 🤔
Having said that, congratulations on your tally this season👏🏻👏🏻
ALL good/ great players work hard.....enough said.....

I wasn’t a fan of Omotayo during IC’s reign, he just didn’t score enough goals. The National League was and is a tougher level than the NLN, so at the time perhaps he wasn’t quite up to speed, good enough or whatever. He has done really well this season and any doubters (I was one) have to admit that he is capable at this level. The bullet header against Kettering is the sort of goal I would like to see him score more of. With his height and strength, he should be able to do that. For me, he has improved very much so, and we know that he is good at defending too. He got the assist for Barrett’s wonder goal at P Sports (watch the video) and of course, the winner at Doncaster. So, total respect to him, you can’t fault his effort.
If we go up and he stays, it will be interesting to see how he does against better opposition. He did alright against Doncaster after all.

How many penalties did Marriott hide behind once he took over that duty from Clunan? A striker is a goalscorer even if its from the spot. Hopefully Gold will see sense and stay with us next season, he can only get even better

:oldman" :farmer: Agree there Graham, goals are goals and not everyone has the bottle to step up and take penalties. Many top players have added to there goalscoring feats with penalties, well done Gold, 25 goals for the Season is still well within your capabilities. :oldman" :farmer:
