How does Tommy put it right ?
« on: February 20, 2023, 02:57:25 PM »
What can Tommy do to get things back on track?   Maybe change the system but would that be like trying to put square pegs in round holes.   One thing many feel should be happening is Tommy’s boy being ‘rested’. Difficult with nepotism though.

I wonder how much longer Hargreaves is going to be missing, as for me he was the key for us earlier in the season.

What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

Early doors I thought Theo came in for unfair criticism, up to his injury and especially Doncaster I thought he was outstanding but the whole midfield was .Clunan was back to his awesome self and I didn’t realise the miles Hargreaves’s was putting in  .perhaps being unfair but TW decision to play his boy V Stevenage after a hamstring thought there was a bit of  keep it in the family .
Drop Theo put in chamberlain,/Hughes  I’d go cosgrave and ponch to start use gold as super sub and I’d use zain more see if that makes Barrett buck his ideas up . Love Barrett but I think he’s peaked in fitness bit of a luxury player but we can play 10 hoping for a peter’sport moment .

I think that Hargreaves alongside Clunan and Widdrington is a case of the three bringing the best out of each other, with Theo more effective playing a little deaper, in the holding role. Scott has also been a huge miss.

Hargreaves is apparently about 2-3 weeks away as doing running again and will then need gradual match time. Don't know about Ollie Scott another player very much missed.  :scarf:

Ollie Scott was wearing a surgical boot after the Leamington game and that, sadly, indicates something like 6 weeks for the bone to heal plus getting back to full fitness.

I think injuries are costing us now.
I'm sure criticism of the players will be a big help.  :nilpoints:

Think i read an article about Ollie in the YLP when he said he was probably at least another three weeks away.

Two weeks ago those of us who could see the way things were going and were worried about performances/results etc were being told by people in here to “to give our heads a wobble”!! Now there are topics and comments like this one, from people who are now waking up to reality!!
We WILL be in the play offs and it WILL still have been a good season but being realistic we have very little chance of winning the league I’m afraid, we are just not good enough and our squad is not big enough, QUALITY wise.
The sooner that sinks in to some (most) in here the better, to avoid the need for more new topics like this one over the next few weeks!!
Hopefully we can still finish in the top three to make winning the play offs easier BUT I don’t think we will even do that I’m afraid.
(Puts my tin hat on now but deep down and realistically, you know I’m right, sadly!)

Tin hat Jam, why ? Your opinion is no less or more valuable than anyone else’s, but it’s just an opinion.

I agree with you we will make the play offs.  Would have to be a massive fall from Grace for that not to happen.   However I haven’t given up on the one auto place, neither I’m sure have Tommy and SC.  You are spot on things haven’t been right of late.  The reason I put this thread up was to get people’s views as to why.

One thing I would take issue with you on is the quality and indeed depth of squad ( ok I know that’s two issues).   Quality wise we have the same squad as that with destroyed Darlo and turned over Donny.   We were a flying machine back then.   As for the depth.  Tommy has added a good few numbers during the course of the season Oxlaide, Jones, Cosgrave, Hughes with only Charles departing.  The squad is sitting at around 22 players ( when all fit).

100% you saw the blip coming Jam.  Good un ya.  I saw it as a blip, and still do.  Form is temporary, quality is permanent and all that.  Just feel a few players aren’t quite at the level they were earlier in the season plus I know I bang on about it but Hargreaves is a massive miss.

Tommy has had a relatively easy run this season, results wise.  Now he has to step up and get things back on track.  After all that’s what good Managers do.  He can’t have any friends or favourites in that dressing room and has to do what is best for the team and indeed the Club.

Surely a primary purpose of the forum is to stimulate constructive debate and to facilitate differing opinions?

Sometimes to agree to disagree can lead to improvement.

Healthy debate is far better than apathy....It illustrates that we genuinely care!

It's always been the same. People who disagree with the narrative coming from the club are frowned.upon. This causes mock outrage in other quarters , resulting in these people quitting the forum in disgust,  instead of staying on and debating. They probably still come on as guests though given the high numbers present.  :welcome:

Totally agree with the first two posts by Mallard and Bluboy about Theo. I was beginning to think it was just me who was questioning - albeit silently - his continued inclusion in spite of his recent form. I couldn't believe Theo was picked to start the Stevenage game after pulling up with his hamstring the week before. But then it was a relatively big ocassion - and his brother Kai was there too to watch. But Tommy's JOB is to put KLTFC before family !!

I think TW has subsequently admitted that Theo came back from injury a bit prematurely.

Best post on here for a while, thanks Rod and hope that we can all live up to it.  Would be great to see more of those who criticise on social media actually engage with some of the debates and put forward counter arguments to things that they disagree with rather than just making negative comments about the forum.  Whilst the forum isn't perfect, imo it is still the best medium for debate about what goes on at the Walks (on and off the field)

Tony.

If Rod's post is the best one to be made on here for a while, yours comes a very close second.
