Lynn lose ground in title race

Linnets lose 2-1 at home to Farsley.

Att: 721

Fylde held to a 2-2 draw at Buxton. Flyde are now one point clear at the top, with a game in hand over the Linnets.

Losing at home to Farsley people might think that’s a bad night.  It could have been much worse.  Brackley lost as well while Fylde were pulled back to 2-2 by Buxton late in the game.

Let’s give credit to part time Farsley who kept going to nick it in the 94th min. A cold Tuesday night and with travelling down as well. Sometimes you just have to take it on the chin.

However Tommy must be asking a few questions of people in that dressing room tonight.

On to Saturday and a toughie at Kiddie, while Fylde also have a tough one at home to Darlo. More twists and turns to come.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

Darlington game was pp tonight, so hopefully will be feeling a lot more fresh than Fylde.

Mallard, forget results elsewhere, it was a bad night. Losing at home to a team that were in a relegation spot is bad however you dress it up. Chester had a good night, that’s for sure. Whatever happens we will at least be in a play off spot, so hopefully we can get it right then.

It helps when the teams around you drop points but it is not an ideal situation when you begin to rely on it.

That's all six points Farsley have taken from us this season. In contrast, Fylde have taken all six points from Farsley.

:farmer: :oldman" Dress it up as you will, that’s definitely a night of 3 points lost and in the big picture actually 4 points lost with  Fylde gaining a point from a draw. The biggest problem I see is we as a squad , team, club, for whatever reason, seem unable to get up for matches against teams at the lower end of the table, now more than ever this season, these teams are scrapping for ever single point.  :oldman" :farmer:

Plenty for TW to think about last night, back three all looked out of sorts against a very positive Farsley front 2, midfield pair stretched to breaking point first half but better in second half with the introduction of Theo, the wing backs showed how much we are missing Jones and Scott (and now Denton?) and the front three looked like it was the first time they had met, had to feel for Gold as however poor his first touch is, the chances of heading to a teammate are much reduced when there generally wasn't one of them anywhere near him for most of the game with the exception of the goal with a good run and finish from Hughes.

Clear frustration from the bench last night but team selection and set up had to play a part, appreciate we have injuries which will mean square pegs being shoved into square holes and we did try to pass the ball last night, it was the movement that was so obviously lacking but not addressed.  That said some of the stick that came at the end of the game was uncalled for, however frustrated people are, we are 2nd in the league and, with players returning from injury, are still very much in still in the mix

There maybe players returning from injury Tony, but having listened to Tommy’s post match interview it seems 3 are done for the season.

Lots more in that interview to digest as well.  Seemed like Tommy wanted to attack everything and everyone.

His statement about walking every street in the Town centre and finding no sign of the place having a football team, was a massive dig at who, the Fans or the Owner ?

Have a listen

You mention TW wanting to attack .. I sit in the stands and TW musings are quite something.. but very little encouragement comes from him very negative, I wonder if the players are stifled and scared of playing ..it’s like the players are playing with hot potatoe so to speak . I honestly do wonder if is well in the dressing room .. heard Hargreaves’s could be an op Olly may return soon , where’s Zain injured, dropped ?
I’m not Anti gold and I do feel at times he’s a scapegoat but why ain’t we attacking teams like this from the start  no pace up front and Celtic liked comfortable defending,I think with Barrett vision he could pick out ponch or cosgrave playing on the shoulder of the defence instead off hoof ball to gold .. ..suppose in TW we trust

I always enjoy listening to Tommy and credit to him for fronting up after such a poor performance but i think some of his comments touch upon certain fundamental problems within the club

There is still a major disconnect between much of the town and the club.  We are not perceived by many as a community club in spite of recent efforts, for a number of reasons. Trust in the 'project' being one of them, not least by some local businesses, who might have been potential sources of sponsorship income?.....With supporters (customers) therefore expected to contribute a disproportionate percentage of club income to make up the shortfall. Hence some, in these difficult times, cannot afford to attend every game whilst other's due to age will not turn out on a freezing Tuesday night.

With regard to players and formations the buck rightly stops with Tommy and undoubtedly injuries to key players have had a major impact but we all have opinions and rightly so......Cosgrave would start in my team ahead of Gold, with his pace and willingness to run in behind. Denton is also going to be a big miss. A consistent performer who does not always get the credit he deserves and i still fail to see in our performances the value of being full time at this level...........But it is all about opinions?!

It’s interesting that the message being put out by SC and TW is toward the 700 plus faithful as they are not the people who need convincing.   SC has this dream of having League Football at The Walks, but it’s just that.... his dream.   He really can’t expect people to pay for his hobby.

To pull in the crowds of say 1200-1500 regularly at this level then everything on offer has to be right.  Sadly in many ways it just isn’t anywhere near being right.   Long gone are the days where you just open the gates and the people flock in.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?
