Tonight’s Game
« on: March 14, 2023, 02:52:18 PM »
I fear that we’ll be down to third tonight. It would be nice to think that we might grab a good win but my head is suggesting otherwise!  As ever, how we are set up is key. In my opinion we should go positive and take the game to them. A point, to be honest, would have been good earlier in the season but at this stage we need three. No pressure…

We are rather unpredictable lately so anything is possible tonight. The players are certainly good enough to get a win, hopefully that will be the case. I think TW is set in his ways with his starting 11 recently. Maybe start with Ponticelli and Cosgrave, even Omotayo too. However, can’t really see Tommy going with 3 forwards at the start. Still keeping positive, results go our way tonight and Fylde to play at home, all very much to play for. We are virtually assured a play off spot, so hopefully we are not settling for that. Let’s come away from Brackley with 3 points.

I agree John. Don’t think TW will start with two strikers…but just the one as usual. That said, while I would disagree, I think he’s done a remarkable job overall this season and whatever happens I hope he stays. We need consistency after recent times. Like you, I know we have players more than capable of taking three points. Let’s hope we’re pleasantly surprised.

MUCH better line-up.  It will give Brackley plenty to think about/ stay back about.  We can still defend in numbers when necessary, but at last the opponents will have enough to worry about, and have to stay out of our half more.  Of course, we might lose, but this looks interesting.

Having said that, any KL team without Barrett is depleted….

Danger of surrendering the midfield as we did last Tuesday, maybe TW thinks we are liable to concede so just looking to score more than them?

Assume you haven't watched him on the past few Tuesdays where he has looked jaded, personally rather have Stephens than Barrett (not sure they can play in the same XI either) in midweek at least.  At least with the streaming option you can get to watch a game

Didn't get in until we were already 1-0 down but seeing the goal replayed at half-time, I think the best you could say was 'scrappy'.  We haven't really created much, plenty of possession but the formation means we are easy to match up to, Scott and COC hugging the touchlines have found space but not really hurt Brackley and Richards is showing what a good player he still is, doing everything you would want from the holding midfielder.  Hopefully a bit more movement and intent in the 2nd half

MOM? Aaron Jones when the online commentary was not breaking down, was excellent alongside Nick Bowler. Apparently Blair was involved in an RTA yesterday?
