I wonder what line up and formation Tommy will go with on Saturday.   This 5 at the back he’s stumbled on seems to be misfiring somewhat.  Really didn’t see the point against Fylde when they stopped us playing out. 

Let’s hope Tommy has a rethink and uses the next 7 games to come up with a cunning plan for the play-off.  He seemed to stick with it throughout the whole game on Tuesday,  not risking throwing another striker on to try and force the game.  Just went like for like on his changes.    Bizarre

Mall, we have played with three centre backs for virtually every game this season, both that great patch at the start of the season culminating in the Darlington and Doncaster performances through to the poor displays, even with positive results, that have been seen too often since Christmas.  The real difference has been in midfield where injuries to Theo then Hargreaves prompted TW to change formation and now it feels like he is forcing a formation to get players on the park rather than picking the best team.  For me I think playing Stephens AND Barrett means we don't get the best out of either of them and by picking them both we also concede the middle of the park.

With two winnable away games, I would like to see Tommy revert (as much as injuries allow) to the formation that served us so well earlier in the year:

                     Dixon-Hodge
          Crowther, Coulson, McFadden
Jones, Clunan, Widdrington, Hughes, Jones (obviously Scott if fit)
                     Stephens
                      Ponticelli

Think you could make a case for Cosgrave, certainly the better finisher, but just think Ponticelli brings others into play better and creates more space for others.

Too much is expected of managers and formations.  We have had “safety first” selections for far too long this season.  It’s true we have lost Hargreaves and Scott, and of course Jones, but the new GK has mitigated that latter problem.  But “safety-first” is rarely that, because it concedes too much ground (and therefore chances) to the opposition.  Plus, whenever TW makes substitutions late in a game to salvage a self-induced deficit, he takes one attacker off and puts another on.  That changes nothing.  He needs more attackers on the pitch if we need goals.  We still have the players to win promotion, but we have to pick them, especially as I’m sure the opposition do pick theirs!  Nothing wrong with having attackers in m/f alongside Clunan and Hargreaves, when we need wins!  Keep the Faith!!!

There lies the rub Tony.  When we had Denton as part of the three and Scott on the left we had the pace in there to get out.  Just seems despite what personal are available Tommy wants to stick with this rigid 5.  We stuck with again for 90 mins the other night despite having to chase the game.

I agree with you re- Barrett.  Great quality but the other night he did very little.  He looked way short on fitness and didn’t offer very much at all.  Shame really Tommy hasn’t been able to get the best out of him. 

As for the striking role.  If we have no target man and can’t get out through the wingbacks then whoever is up front is going to struggle with having 60 yard ‘bombs launched at them from the keeper.

Whatever team Tommy selects and it surely will be attack minded. I hope his overriding message will be to play without fear, play on the front foot and to express themselves.

To a degree the pressure is now off, so they should just go out and enjoy playing the game!

For me tomorrow is the first step of seven to the play offs.  We need to try and achieve the runners up spot, and be on a decent run of form when the play offs kick in.

There may be reasons for omissions we’re not party to, but the line-up today appears to be disappointingly defensive. If three attackers can make the bench then why not play one of them with Cosgrave?  Surely we need a win not a potential draw?

Sort of line up I expected, that is the norm for TW when away from home. A draw would be an ok result, especially if Chester and Brackley fail to win their games. With our starting line up, hopefully we will dominate possession, I guess that’s Tommy’s thinking. Lynn to win 2-1 with a late Stephens goal.

Just seen the line-up.  Is he hoping for a couple of breakaways,one in each half?.  Can’t we get Conte - he’s the latest to be found wanting!  What’s our formation, 8-1-1?….. If we sneak a win today, we will have less chance of winning enough other games.
