Great away win at a tough place to go. Remember, Hereford won at Fylde recently too, so well done Tommy and team.
Just goes to show that a ‘defensive’ line up can win games. Dixon-Hodge looks to be a good replacement for the injured Paul Jones.

Great bounce back after Tuesday’s disappointment.  Didnt sound much of a game on the radio with chances at a Premium.    3 points, clean sheet and a bounce back.  Ticked a few boxes there.

A clear week now then onto Chorley next Saturday.
What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it’s all about ?

Hi Mallard, yes a fantastic bounce back. I listened to it on Radio Norfolk and you’re right, there wasn’t much goal mouth action from either side. It was a job well done by Lynn and full credit to TW on his team selection. Really blows Dilly’s theory of overloading with forwards out of the window, hopefully he is man enough to admit Tommy got it right today.
Next up is Chorley at home, so would expect a more attacking line up being at home.

Sorry for any confusion, we are actually away to Chorley. We won the home fixture 2-0.

Delighted with the result, but hope it’s not a pointer for the important games approaching that must be won.  The selection had a better chance of winning that it will in most games, as Hereford on a minus Goal difference of 3, compared to our plus 39.  We were much better in the 2nd half when we brought some of our best players on.  Of course, certainly congrats to TW and SC, and good luck for the run-in.  However, The Dillathon computer has a red alert on it today with a message on it that if we persist with such a line-up in games that must be won, we could struggle, as it relies on more luck and good goalkeeping to keep the foe at bay when they will have more chances than against a rounded selection.  I enjoy listening to SC on radio - he’s done a great job for our club, and continues to do so, imho.

I listened to the commentary and felt desperately sorry for Cosgrave!

Just because you have, let’s say 3 forwards as opposed to just one, won’t guarantee scoring more goals and sometimes, yes it maybe determined by the opponents and most definitely, whether at home or away. I understand what you’re saying Dilly, but if you have a less defensive set up, then you’re probably more likely to concede, it’s a fine balance. I think we can expect a similar line up at Chorley, surely to go attack minded away to a play off hopeful side would not be prudent. If we can stay above Chester, then the only ‘must win’ games are the 2 play off games, assuming of course that Fylde go on to win the league.
TW’s game plan and selection worked at Hereford, so let’s all respect his knowledge and choices, I’m sure had we lost or drawn he would have come in for criticism. We watch football for a reason and Tommy manages football for a reason.

A very good response from Tommy and the team with the win at Hereford on Saturday. Never an easy ground to get a result at although we've done rather well there in recent visits. A case now of getting as many points as we can from the final six games to cement second place and see what Fylde do. Although I feel that it's their title to lose as thing's stand.

Personally I was pleased to see TW’s line-up for Hereford…think he got it just right. Playing 3 centre backs, looking to win the midfield and dominate possession and then having the most prolific goal scorers up top (Cosgrave or Omotayo/Ponticelli) makes good sense.

If we cast our minds back to the good start it was based largely on solid defence, strong, hard working midfield and Omotayo and Ponticelli up front.

I know that TW went on record as saying he wanted to be more positive in the second half of the season and use Barrett and Stephens more……but that was before the injury to Hargreaves. Without Hargreaves, it’s difficult to accommodate both Stephens and Barrett in the line up as they don’t have the same engine as Cam.

For the rest of the season I would be playing the Hereford line up  when away from home and  Omotayo and Ponticelli at home with Cosgrave as sub for second half. For me Barrett and Stephens would be options from the bench in the last 20 minutes. Both are skilful , flair players, but the stats show that the bulk of the goals will come from elsewhere….and basically, lose the midfield early doors in a match and you are up against it right from the start.

I tend to agree with John  H and feel that if you playBarrett, Stephens, Ponts, Gold/Cosgrave all in the same line up, then over the course of 90 minutes, that is less effective than playing just 2 of the more prolific goal scorers upfront, backed up by hard working midfielders.

Why have we had no updates on the Hargreaves and Scott injuries,  or is it another Cameron King saga?

In his most recent video interview, i think Tommy said that Scott might be available for Chorley but that Denton and Hargreaves were at least a couple of weeks away.
