I don't think things have been right for a few weeks now - whether Tommy was beginning to feel the pressure as "squeaky bum time" approaches.

Personally, I had a hunch he may have walked at the end of the season anyway.

That said, the timing of this is poor - hopefully it galvanises the squad and doesn't de-rail potential promotion.

I'm curious as to where he is going and hope Lynn receives some sort of financial reimbursment / compensation from the club who has "poached" Tommy

But, as in all walks of life, every cloud has a silver lining and if it means his ridiculously poor 'footballer' of a son doesn't play one more minute in a Lynn shirt, then it isn't all bad!!

Really shocked and disappointed in Tommy, if he has just resigned. Very unprofessional of him if that’s the case. We don’t know what has one on behind closed doors, or why he didn’t have the decency to see the season out, irrespective to what level we find ourselves at next season.
It makes it difficult for Theo now, hopefully his commitment is with Lynn and he will have added incentive to win promotion with Lynn and play at National League level.

So far we have only heard the Clubs version of events, and nothing from TW.

It could even be the case TW decided to walk and there's no other club involved, despite what we have been informed.

:farmer: :oldman"  It’s been on the horizon for a few weeks now, disagreement with the chairman, criticism of fans and level of support, face to face disagreement with fans and public apology issued, these are just a few issues and maybe Tommy has decided enough is enough, or even an offer from another club has come his way. :oldman" :farmer:

Who knows,  maybe he just had enough as well.   IC walked last time with no job and the first time walked to join a ‘lesser’ Club.   It does seem SC is not the easiest to work with.  Only have to look at the high turnover of people who have cone and gone.  Typical example is when you look at how many people have had the Commercial Managers Job.  They can’t all have been not up to it.

It does seem that SC likes to dip his beak into all areas of the Club.  Straws and Camel backs spring to mind.

I'm sure Tommy's first quote will be to blame the Chairman and possibly the fans to deflect the brown stuff from himself. That's  the last 2 manager that have sh*t on the fans and club on the way out , at least this one hasn't orchestrated a pay off. Didn't have the balls to see the season out and bottled it by resigning at an away game. If Theo stays for the rest of the season I hope the fans respect him for not being a snake like TW. The new manager has to be someone fresh its no good talking about previous managers , they're history if they were the right people they'd still be here, tough job ahead depending where we are, p/time , full time, if we go p/time probably 80% of the squad will go. Lots of questions to be answered Keep the Faith UTL

Mallard, its SC's club and business if he wants to interfere it's up to him, sometimes he may well be out of order ,but at the end of the day TW was his employee. Yes if you don't like it you can leave, as TW has, but there is a way of doing it. If you cant take criticism that's tough because at sometime in your working life that will happen. To act in such an unprofessional way , someone who always spouted he did everything professionally , is a joke

GB, Managers coming back certainly can work.  Who will ever forget what Culverhouse did 2nd time round.  Yes shame how it all fell apart.  It is what it is.

With regard to SC dipping his beak in.  Could be you reap what you sow.   The timing of TW’s departure was poor, on his part but everyone has a breaking point.

I’m sure the whole truth will out, in time.

Can’t say I was a fan Tommy’s ‘brand’ of Football in the 2nd half of the season but no one can deny it was successful. League tables don’t lie and all that.

Wherever Tommy ends up will be interesting to see how he performs.  PR only gets you so far.

It is the timing rather than the leaving that has surprised me. Regardless of whether we get promoted or not i thought there was more than a possibility that he would depart at the season's end, as results this season have to an extent papered over the cracks of a dysfunctional off field set up. The style of football at times has not been easy on the eye but i would imagine Tommy is quite marketable and still ambitious. So if a better organised and well run club at this level or above, perhaps nearer home were to approach him, i can see the attraction of that from his perspective.

But the timing? It suggests there is more to this than currently meets the eye?

I can only assume he’s been informed of next seasons playing budget, of both if promotion is secured and not, so has left on basis he feels it’s a step backwards next season. Who knows though.

Get the feeling whatever the Club could offer, going forward, it would be difficult to meet Tommy’s demands.  He had a relatively easy ride at Lynn.  Picked up a no hope situation last season so was on a free hit for him last season.  This season he had a full time, large squad ( for step 2), with one of the highest budget’s in the League and in fairness he delivered a play off place.

Even though the brand of football wasn’t up to the standard we had enjoyed under Culverhouse it still delivered the initial objective of play offs but fell a little way short of automatic promotion.  If as suggested Tommy is moving on to bigger and better things then the expectation levels will rise as well.   How will he cope with that ?  Well when the pressure was on at Lynn and the fans voiced their opinion he didn’t react to well to it.

As a Manager I would suggest what he achieved this season will sit at the top of his Managerial CV.  I always felt a Tommy had a high opinion of Tommy.  Now he will have the chance to prove it.

Surely that's important at Lynn FC?  :dontknow:

Yes, I would say that’s vital.

One of the difficulties I feel, is that when the managerial vacancy is being offered, I am pretty sure that the club is touted as a sleeping giant…which of course it is not. Further down the line SC gets to a point where he can’t match the big bucks of a Fylde set up and the crowds at The Walks are not those hoped for. At that point there are constraints on the squad. I feel that def. happened here. Lynn had the best squad , by far up till November. I recall TW saying how important it was to keep recruiting to stay ahead of the pack. In the next couple of months Fylde signed, I believe 7/8 top players for this league….Lynn managed 2 good additions in Hughes and Cosgrave. Just looking at Ollie Baylis yesterday and summaries of fees paid to agents and the like…….Lynn paid £2K……….Fylde paid over £22K, I believe…..kinda shows the difference. I suspect one of TW’s big frustrations was lack of budget to beef up the squad when it mattered. He remembered crowds of 2K when he brought Salisbury to The Walks and hoped similar levels would boost the coffers……he believed Lynn to be better supported than it currently is….hence his stroll around the town looking for evidence…but alas………..(similarities here with OC during his tenure, in terms of lack of budget at crunch time)

I wouldn't be surprised if we have an  even smaller budget next season!
